Thought it'd be cool to have a thread bout recent books you're reading. I literally just got done reading "The Regulators"-Richard Bachman/Stephen King. Twisted as usual and not entirely satisfying at the end but still it's a S.K. original. Right now I'm reading "A Child Called "IT"" and all I want to do is find the mother and lock the door behind me. Sad that this could actually be happening right now.

I'm re-reading Harry Potter. I started because the movie was supposed to come out next month, which would have given me enough time to finish all books. But since I had already started, I decided to finish anyway.

I'm in the middle of a short story collection...just recently finished reading a Melville short titled Bartelby the Scrivener and The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman out of this collection. I also just started Big Sur by Kerouac but I may put that on hold for a few weeks to read Cormac McCarthy's The Road...I've been really inactive lately with a bookclub I joined last year and The Road is this month's selection...I'm actually pretty interested in reading it.
I take it that "A Child Called "IT"" deals with some heavy situations...what it the story about?

I'm reading Watchmen for the second time. When I get done re-reading Harry Potter, that will be the next book, I will read. It will be the first graphic novel I will read.

Wow, just checked out the description. When you hear about something like this, it just seems unfathomable that anyone would inflict such harm onto someone else, especially their own kid. Good luck with the rest of the book.

It was the first, (and so far only), graphic novel that I've read. It's fantastic. I'm now reading To Kill a Mockingbird for school.

How is everyone doing with whatever book you are reading?
Go figure, after I posted here, I haven't really progressed any with the books I mentioned in my post..had a hectic project to deal with at work and just haven't in the mood to read.
Today I started reading a series of stories by O Henry about a con man named Jeff Peters...the schemes this guy thinks up and the way things end are kinda funny.

Well, I dropped by the library today to check out some textbooks so I can refresh my memory on something for a work project...I just unloaded all my college books last year so of course now I'm actually having to use some of this stuff I never thought I'd actually use.
Anyhow, while I was there, I picked up a couple of new books to read for November...The Global Soul (travel book) and Dog Years (a memoir). Decided I needed to read something written in this century although both books are non-fiction.
Anyone else reading anything new or almost done with a current book?

Hah, nice. Yay, for library visits; I think I've heard of Dog Years before.. the title seems really familiar.
I'm reading Emma by Jane Austen! I tried reading Sense and Sensibility last year and couldn't finish it, so I was kind of discouraged from reading more Austen. But Emma is pretty darn awesome =D

Let me know how you like Emma! I've been wanting to check out another Austen piece.
The only works by Jane Austen I've read are Northanger Abby and Lady Susan. I enjoyed both stories but have been sidetracked with Steinbeck over the past year because I got involved with a Steinbeck project which was awesome but took up a lot of my free time.
I'm not too sure what Dog Years is all about yet, but I've been part of a book club through my local university since February of last year and I haven't really participated since March (thanks to project mentioned above)...I decided to get active again and Dog Years is the November selection.
