Sounds good! Oo, I've heard great stuff about Northanger Abby! I'll read that one sooner or later. Ah, well Steinbeck is pretty good too =D. I love Of Mice and Men.
Haha, well it's great you're getting active again in the club xD. Have fun reading it!

I have to read Les Miserables before Thanksgiving break. All 1400 freaking pages. And I have to read The Great Gatsby for the same class. Graduation can't come soon enough...

Yuck! What's up with your teacher? I got stuck with a few instructors that assigned take home midterms...the essay kind, to be completed over Spring Break. For as much reading as I do, I've never read Les Miserables or Great Gatsby. Good luck with your class, and just think of graduation as the light at the end of the tunnel .

Haha, well it's great you're getting active again in the club xD. Have fun reading it! Definitely check out Northanger Abby. Are you still reading Emma? I just finished Dog Years the other day. The concept sounded interesting...it was a memoir about this guy and his connection to his two dogs and a brief telling of his life until his two dogs eventually died. It was only 200 pages, but after the first 100 pages, I just started skimming through. The author was just redundant and his writing style was pretentious. I didn't feel so bad not liking the book...during our discussion it turns out no one else liked it either for the same reasons cited above.

I finally finished Emma! It wasn't a chore to read, but the end of the school quarter had me busier than usual with homework Dx. I enjoyed the book a lot! I still prefer Pride and Prejudice to it, but Emma had its great moments where really unexpected things happened and I still can't believe how horrible one of the characters turned out to be. Classic Austen, you should definitely read it!
Hah, aww yeah the concept seems cool; too bad about its composition. Ah, that's good about the people in the club having the same opinion!

Would you recommend reading Pride and Prejudice first? I'll make it a point to read either P&P or Emma next year. I know what you mean about homework getting in the way. I just started a new non-fic writing class a little over two weeks ago and I already have to have a proposal of my course project ready next week. And the mid-term is already coming up in 3 weeks!
In the meantime, to clear my brain of the non-fiction world I just started reading Thomas Pynchon's The Crying of Lot 49. Very trippy but I'm intrigued by this world of rival underground postal services!

Hmm, I would definitely recommend Pride and Prejudice first! It's my favorite Jane Austen book! Hah, oh dear, good luck with your class and your course project!
Hahaha, that sounds like a really good book! I'm planning on reading either Watchmen or The Fabric of the Cosmos, depends on which I can get ahold of first xD. But mebbe I'll add The Crying of Lot 49 to my list too! Trippy books are fun =D.

The class is definitely moving faster than I thought it would. Good luck with your classes as well!

lol Steve xD. It's cool, I found out my school library has it so I'll be picking up a copy soon!
You're welcome, and thanks for the karma! I'll throw some your way as well. Great! Have fun reading it.
Woot, thanks! Also, have you read any other books by Pynchon? I was trying to figure out why the author sounded familiar and then realized he wrote Gravity's Rainbow! I haven't read it yet, but I want to! One of my favorite songs is named after the book and has a few literary references to it =D

No I haven't read Gravity's Rainbow yet...Lot 49 is my first foray into Pynchon. I hate to admit this, but for as much as I read, I became aware of Pynchon from watching The Simpsons!
I've been wanting to check out his work, but I started w/ Lot 49 because last month I picked up an anthology of post modern lit and there was a 10 page excerpt from Lot 49 in this anthology. I was hooked after those 10 pages and knew I had to read the whole thing.
Lot 49 is also Pynchon's shortest novel. I'm only halfway through it right now because I started reading my December book club novel (The God of Animals, which by the way turned out to be an excellent read) but I'll probably finish Lot 49 next weekend. I do plan to read more Pynchon next year...I need something new to move onto...I've been on a Kerouac and Steinbeck bender this past year.
That's cool one of your favorite songs is named after Gravity's Rainbow. Have fun reading The Watchmen!

lol Nice xD. Hah, it's okay!
Oo, that's pretty cool. I love stories that can hook you in uber quickly =D
Good to know! I picked up Gravity's Rainbow yesterday and have only had time to skim through the first couple of pages, but it seems pretty darn good! I'm excited to start reading it. Hah, nice, yeah definitely try new authors!
Thanks! I got Watchmen from my school library today. I started reading it and it's darn good stuff! I'm not quite into graphic novels, but the story flows incredibly well so far. I'm excited to finish it!

Oh hey, definitely keep me updated on Gravity's Rainbow... I want to read that soon (along with Pride and Prejudice of course). I'm not too excited about the January pick for my book club, not sure if I'll participate in this next round which would leave me time to read one of these...besides this month's discussion was pretty intense... I think I need a break!
I'm still about halfway through Lot 49. Even though it's a short book, I'm easing up on reading this month...it's been a hectic month. But I'll let you know when I finish.
Here's another exalt for keeping this thread going. Seriously, what happened to everyone else?

Thanks man =D
I'm in Chapter 3. Blaw did tell me that the story does get a little more confusing later on though xD.
Ahh! I will Nicole =D. Aw, that sucks, what's the book your book club plans to read for Jan.? Alright, cool! Definitely tell me how it goes. It might take me awhile to finish Gravity's Rainbow, but I'll keep you updated on what I think of it! Thanks! I'll send one your way too.
Hah, I dunno. Mebbe most people are too busy to read? Or just don't feel like talking on the thread.. Ah well.
