I just realize that so much of my musical favorites are not under the "band" definition. Either they're DJs or just 2 guys like Chemical Brothers...or the main creative force was a single person.. PJ Harvey, Stevie Wonder, Van Morrison, Beck, and Brian Wilson all pop into mind.
But I did think of um..... Sonic Youth....and......Velvet Underground.....Sly and the Family Stone...ANd CALEXICO!

I know voting is over, but for the record, I would've picked Jack. The Beatles, woo!!! And how can anyone not like Bono? It hurts, Jay. It really hurts. Hahaha.

I would have had New Order & The Cure in my top 5.

First time poster, here -- love the show! Both good lists, guys, but I may have to give the edge to Jay for the prog rock leanings of his list. Jay, you need to check out some King's X. They're my fave band and would be right up your alley. Start with "Gretchen Goes to Nebraska," "Ear Candy" or their most recent, "Ogre Tones" and go from there.
Namaste and Roll Tide!

^I heart you, man. I haven't listened much to The Specials or New Order, but I'll totally check them out since I love everything else on your list. The newspaper told me I could have seen Kings of Leon for 45 bucks yesterday, but it lied, oh yes. Those were the cheapest seats available, and they were in the very back on the bleachers. Psh! But I hope I get to see them someday. What d'you think of the new album? I really like Black Thumbnail and McFearless, but overall it definitely wasn't as good as Aha Shake Heartbreak.
