Maybe I"m just not a music person or it could be my age but I have no vote. Half of Jay's I've never even heard of. Most of Jack's I don't really care for. So, I have no vote.

Here's my list, if anyone wants to know.
10) Widespread Panic 9) Velvet Underground 8) The Band 7) Creedence Clearwater Revival 6) The Allman Brothers Band 5) Beach Boys 4) Pink Floyd 3) Led Zeppelin 2) Crosby, Stills & Nash/ Young 1) Beatles
But Jay really had some good ones, they just haven't proven themselves yet. Newer bands I would pick: Incubus, Muse, Mars Volta, Ambulance Ltd., Midlake, Interpol, The Black Keys, etc.

Well like Gabriel said, the Queen on Jacks list won me over over Jay, both of you had great lists though so kudos to you both. Where was The Police though?

my vote goes to jack even though i liked some of your picks jay. not a lot of people know faith no more other than that song. and i think the disco zeppelin song you two were thinking of is Trampled Underfoot. speaking of zeppelin, i was pumped to hear Achilles Last Stand. My 3rd favorite Zeppelin song behind No Quarter and The Rain Song. Well heres mine: 10.The Doors 9.Rush 8.Guns 'N Roses 7.Umphrey's McGee(not in the mainstream but a great improvisional band) 6.Creedence Clearwater Revival 5.Aerosmith 4.Lynyrd Skynyrd 3.Pink Floyd 2.Boston 1.Led Zeppelin

Cedemis: +1 for Pearl Jam! They would've been in my top 10 too Carcino: It's a Kinks cover by Van Halen but good catch, I didn't even realize it was til you said that! hehe, is that a catch or showing my ignorance of things Van Halen? I kept on waiting for one of them to say that their next choice was the kinks.... me=confuz0r.

Jay, I do think Radiohead is great. But there is this great song that is a bluegrass version of a bunch of Radiohead songs together called Rodeohead by Hard 'n' Phirm that is of course better and better the more Radiohead you know.... homepage.mac.com/lsinger9404/iMovieTheater71.htmlIt's one of my favorites, they do such a great job.

I was waiting for them to say the Kinks also... But not because of the Van Halen cover. Actually, where were the Ramones? Favorite "new" band: Franz Ferdinand

Favorite "new" band: Franz Ferdinand yeah, I was definitely more excited for the Kinks than for Van Halen to be on either list, once I heard that playing...I'd definitely rather listen to the Kinks than Van Halen on any given day. But, it's not my ramblecast nor my top 10 so it's not my call.

Was a bit hard to get a feel for each list as a whole because of the switching between Jay and Jack's choices for each song, but I rated each individuals pick for each number as follows;
1 Jay 2 Jay 3 Jack 4 Jack 5 Jay 6 Jack 7 N/A 8 Jack 9 Jack 10 Jay
Overall vote goes to Jack...

Boy, that was a tough one. Jay, I love that you have Radiohead on the list, and Zep is a good number one choice. However, The Beatles is a GREAT number one choice, and Jack's overall choices were closer to mine. I'd like to point out that I'm 40, so closer to Jack's age, so you might think it's automatic that I'd go with Jack, but I have some newer groups that I'd consider possible choices for my top ten. I'd really have to sit down and devote much more time to actually putting them in order, but along with most of Jack's picks I'd also consider Velvet Underground, The Police, Genesis (the early stuff with Peter Gabriel - BRILLIANT), The Clash, Green Day, Tool, The Killers, The White Stripes, Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins, Nirvana, and The Doors. Of course, they couldn't all make the top ten, but I'd have to consider each of them carefully. Anyway, now I'm rambling, and that job belongs to Jay and Jack. Bottom line, Jack gets my vote. By the way, Happy Belated Birthday, Jack. You don't look a day over 39. Peace, Janet (Lilysweets)

Have to go with Jack's list. I simply have no idea who half of the bands Jay mentioned are.

Another very interesting versus, you guys. Although surprisingly, less interesting to me than the top 10 TV theme songs.
My vote goes to Jack. This time it's definitely because I'm closer to Jack in age than Jay; I simply don't know many of the more modern bands that Jay picked.
I agree with those who have proposed the Eagles (how did they get left out?) and the Police. I might also add Genesis (but maybe that's just because I like Phil Collins).
One final note: in ELO's "Don't Bring Me Down," the unintelligible word that J&J were talking about is "grroooosss" (gross). I know because I read the lyrics in the liner notes when I was a kid (my bro & sis were both big ELO fans). And the front man for ELO is Jeff Lynne!
