Hey! I have a good one!
Ok, here we go...
I think that Mr. Eko was on the Drug plane and did come from Nigeria. I think that he used to be very spiritual and then, something happened that would make him loose a bunch of money. He starts selling Drugs to get money. The drug plane crashes. Mr. Eko thinks," Maybe that is a sign from God!" Therefore, converting back to being Very Spiritual and Religous.

Was that you, ben? Way to go! Just saw your post today.
Hey, Joss, likewise, I liked your theory on Eko. It sort of has a dark humor side to it. I could see that in a movie. Drug-runners son/nephew becomes priest. Drug-runners start dressing like priests, too, but don't change behavior. I've been wondering why Eko was in Australia. Maybe you answered it. But why is he going to LA?

SO that he can get further away, maybe?
Well, anyways(ding), I thought that your theory could be very possible but, that would go against my theory about Eko being an imposter so, can't say that it is right.
GOOD JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the Official Lost Podcast the producers commented that "The story of the monster is thematically linked with Eko."
I'm not sure what that means, but thought I would post it.

Personally, I thought Mr. Eko was a little too clean-cut too have been on the island before the crash, but I could well be wrong.

Goodwin was clean cut, too, but like you, I think Eko was on the plane.
"Thematically linked." Where are the literature people who are good at themes and symbolism? Does it mean that Eko and the monster are both "monsters"? OR that Eko and the monster are both mistakenly believed to be monsters? They are both really in their places for security and for the greater good? People die and lose arms but it is a necessary sacrifice. Maybe Eko saw his role as War Lord like that back in Nigeria.

Well if I see Eko looking at big snake eyes, I am going to laugh my head off. (see snakes alive thread for clarification)

It's looking more and more that he is in connection with the drug plane, why else would he say to Charlie, take me to the plane. They say he has a violent past, must be in with a drug Lord or something.

After watching last night's episode, I think Ethan is right. Eko appears to be an IMPOSTER. While he may be sincere in his repentance and priestly ways, I am not convinced that he was ever officially ordained. This has interesting implications for Aaron. If Eko baptizes Aaron and is not a real priest, it will be like Damien in The Omen. Very interesting.

Yeah, he is definitely not a real priest, as his brother says. I'm assuming he took over his brother's church/congregation after the events in the flashback of last night's episode but just signing a ordination paper doesn't make someone priest.
Interesting thought about the Omen. I don't remember if Claire is all that religious, but if she found out he was a priest (or thinks he is), would she even want Aaron to be baptized.

One thing's for sure, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje should get an emmy nomination.

I think it is in one of the previews or something. Oh, ok. Yeah, those of us in Canada got screwed in the previews area last night. We usually get really good previews but ours was apparently inferior according to the people over at the Fuselage...
