Sorry Jack, but you've gone WAY off the rails with this one. And since ya saw fit to display KR's resume... If our personal top 10 list is ALL TIME (like it says at the beginning of this poll/thread), then that includes living or dead. So I just don't see Kurt Russell hanging around with the likes of: Humphrey Bogart James Cagney Gary Cooper Henry Fonda Jimmy Stewart Cary Grant Spencer Tracy Lawrence Olivier Clark Gable Marlon Brando James Dean Steve McQueen Jack Lemmon Robert Mitchum William Holden Burt Lancaster Alec Guinness Errol Flynn Tyrone Power Orson Welles William Powell George C. Scott John Wayne James Mason Richard Harris Richard Burton Gregory Peck Lee Marvin Richard Widmark as well as... Charlton Heston Kirk Douglas Peter O' Toole BUT...perhaps I'm going too far back...so, should Kurt Russell really be standing alongsides: Paul Newman Robert Redford Sidney Poitier Clint Eastwood Albert Finney Dustin Hoffmann Jack Nicholson Robert De Niro Al Pacino Robert Duvall Gene Hackman Morgan Freeman Anthony Hopkins Sean Connery Michael Caine Daniel Day-Lewis Gary Oldman Christopher Walken Harrison Ford Tom Hanks Liam Neeson Russell Crowe Denzel Washington Bill Murray Johnny Depp Ed Norton Sean Penn Kevin Spacey So...that's about 60 male actors living or dead I think would be ahead of Mr. Russell. And we're not even getting into the character actors like Steve Buscemi, John Malkovich, William H. Macy...or the "pretty boys" who have shown they can act like George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and even Leonardo DiCaprio (who I never cared for until "The Departed"). Chances are, one could keep going and come up with 100 actors who'd be ahead of Mister Hawn on line. Sorry Jack...and I AM a big fan of "The Thing" & "Escape from New York". But top ten actors of all time??? Mmmm...nope. (and watch how I get smited for this now... )

I am not sure that I would put him in the top ten, but he's up there, there has to be some reason why he's been in so many movies and started as a child actor and is still around today. I love him because he can play a very serious part and he can also be very funny, a lot of the actors that have been mention, are great at dramas, but can't do comedy, there are a few like Cary Grant, Jack Lemon, Dustin Hoffman, Jack Nicolson and Paul Newman, to name a few that can do it all, but most of the rest to my knowledge have only done serious films. I like Kurt because he is an all around actor. And you never read anything bad about him either. So he gets brownie points from me because of that also So those are my thought's and I am sticking with them ;D ;D ;D

A fair point...so, of just those I listed, how many could be acclaimed for both comedic AND dramatic acting? So, I knocked off those primarily known only for dramas, but included actors who did at one time or another star in more than one comedic role...
Gary Cooper Henry Fonda Jimmy Stewart Cary Grant Spencer Tracy Clark Gable Jack Lemmon Alec Guinness William Powell Peter O' Toole Paul Newman Robert Redford Albert Finney Dustin Hoffmann Jack Nicholson Robert De Niro Gene Hackman Morgan Freeman Michael Caine Christopher Walken Tom Hanks Bill Murray Johnny Depp Kevin Spacey
Of course, the quality of comedies such as "Overboard" or "Captain Ron"...well. that's in the eye of the beholder!
