A fair point...so, of just those I listed, how many could be acclaimed for both comedic AND dramatic acting? So, I knocked off those primarily known only for dramas, but included actors who did at one time or another star in more than one comedic role... Gary Cooper Henry Fonda Jimmy Stewart Cary Grant Spencer Tracy Clark Gable Jack Lemmon Alec Guinness William Powell Peter O' Toole Paul Newman Robert Redford Albert Finney Dustin Hoffmann Jack Nicholson Robert De Niro Gene Hackman Morgan Freeman Michael Caine Christopher Walken Tom Hanks Bill Murray Johnny Depp Kevin Spacey Of course, the quality of comedies such as "Overboard" or "Captain Ron"...well. that's in the eye of the beholder! I would definetly put Tom Hanks right at the top of the top ten. I love that guy and he is great at both Comedy and Drama, I haven't missed many if any of his movies. And again a guy that you never hear anything bad about. But I would still put Kurt Russell in the top 20.

I must say that for someone as young as you are, I am so impressed that you know so many of the old time actors, do you watch a lot of the old movies? or have you just read about them? You have listed a lot of the really great ones. Clark Gable being one of my all time favorite, Gone With the Wind is one of my favorite movies, a real classic. I have watched it soooooo many times and enjoy it every time that I do.

Gigantic movie buff - and was indoctrinated into watching old films at a very young age, so my knowledge of films from the 30's and 40's should be almost as good as films from the last 20 years. In all honesty, I usually prefer older films (30's, 40's & 50's) for the purity of storytelling, truly iconic actors (that's when a star was truly a star), and the sheer brilliance of many of the directors and writers of those eras. Fast forwarding through time, the 70's were probably the last "great" era of film.

My Favourite Actor Has Got To Be Denzel Washington! If He's In a Movie Then I Know It's Gonna Be Good. I Think Man On Fire Was The Best Movie So Far!

I did like him as Dexter in those Disney movies from the 60's, but not even close to the top 50. I do believe that we could find 100 actors who are better. How many Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor Oscars have there given out.
Hell, Dennis Quaid is a better actor than Kurt Russell.

As much as I hate to disagree with Jack I have to say no, not of all time. I do enjoy his movies, and I think he is a talented actor. Just not "of all time" great. Sorry Jack
