We're all different, and unique in our own ways, and beliefs.

Hey, I would call my self an athiest as would every member of my family. I was however a regular church goer when I was young. Until an unfortunate incident when my church told me that as I was going to be attending the full service and not just Sunday school (I was older so going up a level) that I had to attend with my parents. When I told them that my parents didn't attend church I was told that perhaps maybe they should or I shouldn't either!!!!!
My gran used to proudly call herself a heathen. I think this was because she was surrounded by very religious people who thought her decision to be athiest was despicable. And her marrage to one of a long line of athiests even more despicable. They would call her a heathen, and so in order not to give strength to the word she would agree!!
Her husband (my grandfather) came from a long line of athiests. His father however could quote any part of the bible and had many friends who were respected members of the church. He would often go to the centre of Glasgow and get up on his soapbox next to the preachers (often his friends) and debate religion. This I would like to point out is a very brave thing in Glasgow, as we have a few problems with religion mainly a prodestant v catholic thing.
I grew up sining football (soccer) songs that when I got older I reaslised were describing killing catholics. My team is apparently the prodestant team and thier arch rivals are the catholic team!
I have such a deep dislike of anyone who hates on anyone else because of thier religion (or lack of) and unfortunately I have witnessed more of that than any other discrimination. I am very respectful of everyones religion and more importantly thier right to choose thier religion.
Nowadays I have friends from many religons, and with recently moving to Korea I am having my first experience with the buddist religion. So with my history with religion I am developing a deep interest in it.
I therefore am interested in what everyone feels about the lost, religious connection. Do you feel happy to see so many different religious connections together in such a prime time show or does it ever irritate you?
SORRY FOR THE TERRIBLY LONG POST!!

I'm Mormon, or LDS, or a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, whichever you prefer. The latter is nice, because it leads to people being less ignorant/bigotous, but it is a little long winded at times.
I'm pretty open to people of other religions, they're usually cool. The only people i don't respect are people who claim to live their religion but don't. One of my best friends, and some one i respect a lot, is basically agnostic, though he's dabbled in Buddhism and christianity (and he's been to my church a time or too) but he has some of the most set morals of anyone i know. Vegitarian, healthy guy, very concious of what is right and wrong, cool stuff.
I don't mind agnostics, atheists bug me a little at times, because often they're just so sure of themselves, but then so are lots of religious people...they sometimes annoy me too.

I agree with firebert. Atheists generally have a very elitist attitude and an "I'm right, you're wrong" attitude. I'm just saying in general, because I do know atheists who are very tolerant of other religions and don't try to shove their beliefs down your throat, but from my experience, the majority are like that. Meh.

A new law was passed in Britain yesterday protecting peoples rights to openly mock and ridicule people for their beliefs. As long as no threats of violence are included.
I was looking up those cartoons of Muhammed online today, you know the ones causing all the riots in the middle east because a Danish newspaper published them, and now they have been printed in Germany, Italy, France, Holland and Spain. Not Britain though. Anyway, I Googled them and one of the first links was to a Baptist forum in America where you could see the cartoons, which I suppose were quite funny, but the Baptist priest guys were saying we should all murder the muslems and stuff. It was nuts. 'God tells us to murder them and wipe them out' etc. Both sides are as bad as each other. What is next, suicide Baptists?
I'm glad I stay out of the whole thing. These people are dangerous. And likely psychotic. On both sides.

Dragavan- i could have written that post about myself almost exactly with a few little changes!
I too would not call myself Agnostic as I do believe in something but it's more nature & the forces around me if you will...
I'm maybe a touch on the pagan side & have attended soem rituals but have found them too to contain a lot of the BS that I hate about other religions...sorry no offense, I didn't mean they are BS just that some of the elements are in my opinion...
Guys I am Irish with all that that implies but unlike most Irish people I grew up as a Protestant (Church of Ireland) in a normal Catholic area...lets just say that I dislike both of these religions particularly... Don't know if this news ever reaches you but almost dauly in Ireland a new story hits the news about paedophile priests, alcaholic priests & tales of abuse, children & dis-honesty...
My ex-husband is muslim so I have a pretty good knowledge of that religion too & have travelled in Turkey & seen people's attitudes particularly towards women & girls.... lets just say hipocrasy is rife there too
I dabbled in Bhuddism for a couple of years but I truely believe you would need several lifetimes (no pun intended) to even come close to understanding it, I've actually kept a lot of that religion close to myself out of them all...
I have ever had any experience with Hinduism at all....
Anyway, I find it very hard to accept that there is one all-powerful God, I truely believe it's a beief people have to make themselves feel better, give them hope for the future, 'rules' to live by today & helps to explain 'mysterious' going-ons.... and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, actually I may just be a little envious of people who have 'blind faith'...
But then I don't believe in 'love' either but that's a story for another day!!! Anna

Ha Ha. Funny. Like the old joke, "Did you hear the one about the agnostic dyslexic who stayed up all night wondering if there really is a Dog?" I always enjoy that joke.
