It's not your first time in Cooperstown, is it, Jack? I'm sure there'll be a big crowd for that one.

I went a few years ago. You're probably going on a bus like most sane people, but my cheap advice is, if you're driving, park away from the downtown and take one off the tour buses in. It's a very small town and it will be very, very crowded so arrive very early. I'm sure I'm not telling you anything you don't know. And stay out of the umpteen memorabilia stores which line the streets, unless you have deep pockets. You'll have a blast...There'll be some eyes wiped and noses blowing that day, for sure.

Jack,
We will have to look for you in the big crowd. My family is planning on going too. I have been once before, but not for an induction ceremony.

So Jack....what about Piazza signing to the Padres?
The other teams in the NL have officially declared that they can run on the Padres now... ;D

Doug Mirabelli is a decent backup, and Piazza should draw some west coast fans.

The Padres also signed Walter Young, a huge ex-prospect for the Orioles. The guy makes Cecil Fielder look small.

Yeah, I know - I was just surprised that an NL team picked up Piazza; he seems more suited to a DH at this point in his career, but hopefully he can revive some of his past glories. I just hope the Mets implode again. I hate them.

First of all, great thread. If there is one thing I like more than TV shows, it is talking about baseball. My favorite team is the Rangers (I used to live in Dallas) and I hate the Cardinals because everyone around me loves them. That being said my true passion is fantasy baseball and I know lots of stats about most every player on every team (or at least I do after a month or so into the season after all of the adjustments). Mock the Rangers if you want, but they have one of the best hitting teams (even without Soriano). I am going to cross my fingers now as I say that we finally have some quality pitchers (Eaton, Millwood, Padilla), and we will be well on our way to the World Series after we get Clemens I went to Cooperstown this last summer and it was fantastic. I had never been to NYC, Boston or Philly before, so we made it a baseball trip and did some sightseeing too. I saw the Yanks play the Sox (big Popi hit two dongs as the Sox beat the Yanks) at Yankee Stadium, I took a tour of Fenway (no home games when we were there), saw the Phillies play the Braves, and spent the day at Cooperstown. I even got to chat with Randy Johnson in a parking garage in NYC!! He wasn't much of a talker so the conversation didn't last long.

I've been watching baseball with my dad most of my life, and although we don't really watch it together anymore I'm still an Orioles fan!

So Jack....what about Piazza signing to the Padres? The other teams in the NL have officially declared that they can run on the Padres now... ;D It helps the Padres bench. He's never been a good defensive catcher. Maybe he can hit a few balls out of the park. It all comes down to pitching.
