I love Hagrid. Maybe he'll give us more of what happened in those missing 24 hours after Harry's parents were murdered. He's great at giving secrets.

OO! Good one Blaw! I think it was like a Dementor's potion or something. It was making him see his worst fears. They mentioned this on Pottercast. That he could have been having a premonition of some kind where the Death Eaters infiltrating Hogwarts and causing chaos within the shool. Dumbledore was more worried about the kids being safe, but obvioulsy, Hogwarts is not safe anymore. The wizarding word is running out of safe places!

Thanks Dragavan for the insight on the audiobooks!
moderatormatt- I kind of thought the same, either like a dementor type potion or a boggart type potion.
Dementor Potion- Dumbledore made a grave mistake that's been haunting him for a long time, maybe it's something that made DD kick off and start going after Voldemort in the first place. The Dementor potion made the grave mistake seem 100 times worse than it originally was.
Boggart Potion- I'd base this one on what you said moderatormatt. Dumbledore's #1 concern was that the students at Hogwarts would always be safe and the Boggart maybe showed them being killed or hurt because of an error/misjudgement Dumbledore made, and maybe like you said, it showed a premonition of the Death Eaters getting in and harming everyone in the school.
Didn't Dumbledore say in Book 1 "To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure" ? Nearly Headless Nick said that people generally become ghosts because they are scared of the other choice, Nick called it cowerdice... I don't think he'll come back as a ghost...

I don't think Headmasters come back as posts, just immortilized in portraits. Besides, Dumbledore was looking forward to death, as that quote illustrates.
I didn't think about that...a boggart potion...what if he was remembering his experiences when he was in the 1st Order? Dunno. But it sounds more likely that it would be the students he is more worried about.

I think it has something to do with Grindelwald. JKR said we are going to be learning more about Dumbledore.
I think the potion made him re-live his worse fear/memory.

In the sweet interview between Mugglenet/Leaky Cauldron and Jo, the same question was asked ES: What would Dumbledore's Boggart be?
JKR: I can't answer that either, but for theories you should read 6 again. There you go.
Maybe Jo's refering to the potion in the cave?
Whoa.. "experiances from the 1st order", Matt, that'd make sense too. 'Cause in book 5 I think I remember someone saying how unprepared the Order was then and how they were being picked off like flies...Could be, could be.
