How is the Swan a secret?

My first thought was “How could you keep the Swan Station a secret from the hostiles?” You are building it in hostile territory. The hostiles roam around the island on foot and on horses so they can cover a lot of ground. There are roads leading to the Swan site and there is obviously heavy construction going on with men, materials, equipment, and constant noise.

Why wouldn’t the hostiles notice all this activity and investigate and take action?

The progression of Radzinsky, Kelvin, and Desmond suggest that the Swan was always staffed by Dharma. Why did the hostiles leave that station alone yet take over all the others? Did they not know about it or did they not think it was important? The camera feeds in the pearl station showed the Swan, and the hostiles knew about the Pearl, so it seems they would have know about the Swan.

Ben and Ethan continued to be a part of the Dharma Initiative until the purge. Why didn’t they know about the Swan since by then it was built and operational?

On a side note, they have NOT shown the temple yet. Ben stated they built the wall to HIDE the temple from prying eyes. The door that Alpert carried Ben through was a door in the wall, not a door in the temple. When Locke took Ben to Smokie he said we are going UNDER the temple and the hole they descended was outside the wall. Am I wrong here, it seems to me that we have not seen the temple.

Finally, Anubis is pronounced (ə-nōō'bĭs, ə-nyōō'-) or [uh-noo-bis, uh-nyoo-] the emphasis is on the “new” of “uh – NEW – bis” Jack keeps saying an a bis and it’s driving me crazy!

Yeah, we haven't seen the Temple yet, just the wall around it.

Not sure why the Hostiles don't know about the Swan. Unless they do and just aren't doing anything about it yet. Older Ben and Ethan could have known about the Swan by then, and just didn't lend on.

And yeah, I always pronounced Anubis they way you said, but Jay and Jack were making me question myself!
It's like how you say King Tut, King "Tuht", but really it would be King "Toot" from Tutankhamen. Egyptian pronunciation can be odd I guess.

they put up that nice wall,and it sunken. but i think they have some kind of deal with the other.

I think the fact that Ben states pretty clearly about the wall being there to keep "people like the two of you out" (or from seeing it, cant remember the exact quote) implies that the temple will be pretty important, but at some later time (Im guessing Season 6, though it may show up during this seasons final episode).

But yeah, good observation, I agree that we havent seen it yet (and no, I dont think the underground area is part of it because ben had said it was about half a mile past the wall, and that underground area is right at the wall it seems like)

I dont get how the hostiles havent heard the construction of the swan either. I know its a big island but it seems like it would take a while to build that thing. It seems that they would have stumbled on it eventually.
