i spent 20 weeks, prior to the release of Casino Royale, watching ALL of the Eon Produced 007 films. My list of favorite james bond actors changed drastically this time around. I found that i tended to start leaning toward the more serious James Bond films as opposed to the more fantasy based ones, with The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker as the exceptions. Here is a list of my TOP 5 James Bond Films of all time.
1) Casino Royale (craig)
2) On Her Majesty's Secret Service (Lazenby)
3) The Living Daylights (Dalton)
4) From Russia With Love (Connery)
5) The Spy Who Loved Me (Moore)
Now, after seeing Daniel Craig's portrayal of James Bond i find it hard to knock my decade long front-runner George Lazenby down to #2. I will have to see the next Daniel Craig film to make that call. Right now they are tied. George Lazenby was robbed of being able to portray Bond a second time. i think, if given the opportunity, Lazenby would have gone on to have a successfull career as 007. so as of right now these are my favorite portrayals of MI6's most famous agent James Bond 007.
1) George Lazenby/Daniel Craig
2) Timothy Dalton
3) Sean Connery
4) Pierce Brosnan
5) Roger Moore
as you can see my list sways towards the more serious version of the Ian Fleming character. I like all of these guys. Roger Moore is last but definitly not least, but someone had to be there. i think that the Brosnan films are an abomination of the franchise. i think that The World is Not Enough is Brosnan's best work as 007, but the addition of Denise Richards as Nuclear Scientist "Christmas Jones" was a horrible bit of casting by the Producers. The only redeeming quality of T.W.I.N.E. is that Brosnan plays 007 tough. he even goes as far as to kill an unarmed woman for the sake of the mission.
i am sure i will be visiting this thread often and i hope people do not vote for whoever Jay or Jack picked, but rather put their favorite actor as 007 based on what they have seen of the franchise. i am interested in what you all think of this VS. so make it a good, honest one!
