Is it as sexist as the other recent Bond films?

having not yet seen Casino Royale I voted for Sean Connery. I just loved his Bond. And I can't believe somebody voted for Timothy Dalton.....

I gotta go with Daniel Craig because he just does an awesome job in Casino Royale of following up Pierce Brosnan.
Pierce Brosnan would definitely be my second vote and Sean Connery my third.

Sean Connery all the way! Closely followed by Pierce Brosnan. They are the perfect English gentlemen.
I think Daniel craig is a horrible Bond. I think he looks like an Australian surfer and not an English Agent.

I think that the worst I've seen is The Living Daylights. Villians are terrible ... that Russian general and the arms dealers worst crimes are bad acting. Plus, the female lead is boring, no real personality. I got the feeling that they wanted it to be a more serious film, but were still stuck with some of the campiness of the Moore films...

i just like that crazy chase in licence to kill, and i allways liked live and let die becuse it was my 1st bond film Living Daylights was my first Bond film. it is funny how the first one always sticks in your head. When I think about Bond, like when I close my eyes and imagine Bond (Not that I do it often ), I see Pierce Brosnan. First Bond movie i saw was Tomorrow Never Dies, when I was like 10 years old. I really liked the action scenes, and all the technological stuff going on by then. So, I watched all the following films when they were out on theater. Guess what, they were all Pierce Brosnan ones, until Casino Royale. When I watch Sean Connery as Bond for example or Daniel Craig, it feels like I'm watching a whole different movie. I like them all in different ways, i just can't choose one. Guess i'll be watching some more these days to decide. Edit: P.S: Hey everyone, I've been reading the forums, and listening to J&J for quite some time; guess it's time to start posting.

a lot of the problem with deciding on a favorite James Bond is that people base what James Bond should be, on other performances. If you look at Ian Fleming's Bond you will find that he is a VERY different character than is portrayed on-screen.
Craig, Dalton, Lazenby, Connery, Brosnan and Moore would be my order of favorite Bond based on how close they resemble Ian Fleming's vision of the character.
In Fleming's novels Bond has a rough face. He is not an English Gentleman on the inside. He has to appear as one, but on the inside he is a loose cannon. Imagine if it was Sawyer's job to act like and eglish gentleman...that is Fleming's Bond. In the Novels BOND has a scar over his eye. He is not a perfect guy, he is beaten and broken looking. Brosnan and Moore do not fit the bill when it comes to Fleming's vision.

I had to vote for Sean Connery, but the best Bond movie for me was "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" because it really has the best plot. It's really too bad that Lazenby didn't want to keep doing the movies - he might have been considered one of the best Bonds. The new Casino Royale really gets the franchise back to the original tough-guy Bond character from the early movies and the books. Bond is most interesting as a no-nonsense assassin who doesn't quite fit in with the rest of society. I think Daniel Craig will be great if he keeps getting good scripts like Casino Royale.

But now that times have changed, we are now finally able to see the character as Fleming wrote him. Die Another Day is the perfect example of "movie bond" and "fleming bond". if you look at the first 30 minutes of D.A.D., it is very dark, very real and gritty. this is what fleming wrote about. it was not about the lavish lifestyle. after the 30 min. mark you get into "movie bond" where he wears suits all the time and is very gentlemanly and fights bad guys who have a laser pointed at the earth. i really like this new direction. i prefer the reality approach.

I voted Moore because that is the Bond I grew up with and saw in the theater. Other than seeing a Connery Bond on TV I really haven't seen many of the others and haven't watched any of the films in a very long time. I think I would prefer a darker Bond movie. Reading Ralph's posts - I think I have to check out the books.

congrats on your first post ever, roberinraleigh, you picked a good thread to start with! Welcome, Robert! +1 for you and something else too: I actually voted for Daniel Craig and I haven't seen Casino Royale yet! I'm basing it on word-of-mouth only, and because none of the others (except Sean Connery) really do it for me any more! I'm looking for something different in this genre and Craig might be it.
