My point is: I'll treat you with respect, I would just like some in return. I'm not saying my feelings are hurt, but I'm surprised at the lack of respect alot of people seem to have towards other people. It doesn't cause me distress or hurt, it's just a little disrespectful.

And against my better judgement, I'll offer an opinion on the original topic of this thread... Maybe there should be a screening process prior to accepting in new members to the forum. You know, one way to keep out the undesirables... "Hmmm... lets see, do you have any previous forum experience? Any known allergies? What does this ink blot look like to you? Do you like animals? How many fingers am I holding behind my back? Thanks for coming down, don't call us, we'll call you."

If that happens, I wouldn't want to be a part of that forum anyway.

this place has changed a lot in the 10 months I have frequented it, and I think if everyone would follow the rules that they do with the the podcast (keeping it family friendly, like it used to be) it would be the enjoyable place I felt it once was. I have not been here as much I used to mainly because of the growth of the forum and how it doesnt feel like a community anymore, so I guess I agree with benxtaron what with the name calling and explicit refferences (keep in mind there are some very young members of this board) but I also agree with thepiedpiper in the sense that FRIENDLY debate is a great thing, but please keep it clean
and there will be more members that will join and not see this thread and start being brutal like I have seen happen here a few times so I think a sticky of some general courtsey rules would be great and that the mods come up with a fair way of making sure the rules are upheld

Moved this to the section of the forums that it should be in. Not locking it, but let's not gang up on people. If it gets out of hand we will lock it down.
Honestly, havin gseen three or four of these "things are not like they used to be" threads, I tend to agree with someone above, that this really doesn't fix much and ends up being a complaining session where personalities start to rub each other the wrong way.
There are forum rules, stickied, there is no plans to have any requirements for joining the forums (I know that Jay didn't much like having to require registration in the first place, but spam forced his hand), if there are any problems there are a number of moderators to help deal with issues. The very nature of having a very open friendly place for people to come and talk about Lost means that it is open to a wide variety of individuals. That's just the dynamics of these forums. If people get out of hand, let the mods deal with it, and try not to take anything too personally. The reality is that most people respond well once warned, and all ends up being well in the end.

Now c'mon people settle down. This is not going to solve anything. If you have a problem with someone, or something someone has said, let them know. Don't attack and gang up on them in a thread. Exhibit A: lostpodcast.proboards2.com/index.cgi?board=c&action=display&n=1&thread=2349&page=1Do you see that people, 11 pages of people arguing on how this place is different. It got just as out of hand as this thread is. People's feeling were hurt and guess what, it solved nothing. Please mods lock this thread, it will only continue like this until people are done fighting. Please note in my first post I was not taking sides with anyone, I just made a sarcastic remark about how immature everyone is acting. That brings back memories lol Ok, guys, stop with the fighting. That was my whole point. Its that kind of thing that will turn this place into a poison dump full of cussing and cruelty.

Remember the good o' days when the only "fighting" here was the LOST podcast team vs. the rebels? lol, I miss that.
I think we all just need to be kind to each other and try to keep our posts clean, but if you see someone being mean to someone else you should write a PM to either him/her or a mod and let them take care of it. I think you're right ben, but I don't think this post is helping anything. I know you didn't intend for this to haappen, it's not your fault.

I hope that no one thought that my suggestion for a screening process was meant to be taken seriously. The fact is that everything in life changes, and this forum is no exception. If you don't like the way that it's going, then actually work to change it, and call it out if you see behavior that you think is inappropriate ... don't just complain about it...
