do people actually have 80gb of music? i think its a total waste. i would just get an 8gb nano, fill it up with what i felt like listening to at the time and if i felt like listening to different music, you can erase everything and put the new music in. ur not gonna listen to 20,000 different songs at once, are you? unless you watch a ton of videos, which i dont I have had my video iPod since January and have already filled 30+GB on it....just in music. then there are the video podcasts and not to mention people downloading shows and movies now. oh, and there are ways to convert movies you have and get them on there too. my brother is sending me his external hard drive and we'll be swapping music...which he has already done with someone else as well. So I'll be getting the music from two other people, and my own (granted there will be some doubles), but I fully expect to go up to 45 or 50 GB of pure music if not more. oh, and each day, after I get through any new podcasts, I put all my music on random while I work...it makes the day go so much faster and it's really nice to have it ALL there to choose from. nothing could be worse than saying, oh, I really want to hear this song and then finding out it's sitting in iTunes and not your iPod

oh, and if that's not your type, then it has become clear why they make more than one size capacity....they want to appeal to everyone

I took your advice and got one of the new 80gb iPods the day they came out in stores (thurs). I figured 75% from the ppl i love was good enough reason to pass widescreen/zune up. I absolutely love it, it's great. and yeah, ud be suprised how quickly you can fill up an iPod. tho my HD is only 40gb so there's no way i can get it past that (unless any of you know how i can keep a movie on my ipod without having it on my HD and still sync up?)

Zune seems pretty interesting.. If I had to choose now might even choose it over the iPod

I noticed that the click wheel on the new iPod videos are much easier to control than the ones on the old iPod videos. I always have trouble moving the clicker one space up without it going two spaces instead, and vice-versa. But they made a great improvement on that.

my HD is only 40gb so there's no way i can get it past that (unless any of you know how i can keep a movie on my ipod without having it on my HD and still sync up?) Yes, don't set your iTunes to sync everything with the iPod automatically. When you plug the iPod in, look at the summary in iTunes and there'll be a box for "Manually manage music and videos." Check it. Now you can set the iPod to automatically sync only certain playlists or certain kinds of media (videos only, music only, etc.), or not to automatically sync anything at all. That means you'll have to dump stuff on the iPod and take it off manually in iTunes. So it's like, if you d/l an episode of Lost, you go into iTunes and drag it onto your iPod. Then, back it up and delete the video from the computer. If your iPod is still set to manual, it'll stay on the iPod. And remember to keep the iPod set to manual syncing, otherwise it'll wipe it off again. Syncing manually is extra work, but worth it for a full iPod. I have a 30GB iPod that's almost full, but I have almost nothing in my iTunes. I need my hard drive space. Syncing manually also lets you use the iPod as an external HD, which is nice if you have to transport big files from one computer to another. Automatic syncing is nice for some people, and it's quicker, but with bigger iPods like the 80GB it's not as practical unless you've got tons of storage space. The external HD idea is also great. Those are nice to have, but if you're strapped for cash after dropping $350 on a new iPod, manual syncing is free.
