I remember one line from Latin (did it 1 year) and that's: Alea eacta est. It's like etched in my brain, even though it's useless as a wet paper bag. It means: the dice has been thrown; said by Caesar i think..

I speak English.
I took French for years and can read it okay but I can't speak it or understand it unless someone speaks very very slowly, which French people don't. I took Latin for four years too. I just have a really hard time with languages....it's not my forte.
Heck, I've grown up in Los Angeles where most people speak Spanish and I haven't picked up any of it. I don't think the language part of my brain is developed as much as the other parts.

English. I did take three years of Spanish back in high school. I suppose I should take more of an interest in learning another language, but I don't.

You by no means butchered it. It means: Hello, you all have strong minds. Good fortune to you all!

English and a little French.
Locke should've said "Alea eacta est" before he lit the fuse.

Hehe Annie, I don't really subscribe to the typical American stereotypes, i was only messing with you. America is 1 of the most diverse nations around and obviously it is impossible to pigeonhole the entire population into 1 group. Anyways... ding! I speak English and French and have some basic Cantonese. I know that is weird as hell, but that is why I wanted to learn it. Also something like 1/4 of the world's population speak it. I tried to speak to the family in a local Chinese restaurant, but it turned out they spoke Mandarin.... they said it should be obvious from the menu there, so I must be some kind of ignorant person. That is what you get for trying to be nice!

Where did you learn Cantonese? Is that different from just Chinese? I guess I thought people in China spoke Chinese and that it was one language. Oh, well. The longer I live, the more I realize I suffer from DNS Disease (Don't Know Sh**). But, they probably think we still have Cowboys and Indians over here.
