Since we have an international collection of members, I thought it would be fun to see who speaks what. We know Rasalguhl speaks at least French and English. Matt, you're Canadian. Do you speak French, too? Emma is probably fluent in 7 or 8 languages. I pretty much speak English. I had 3 years of French and a year of German. I think I could pick up the French again if immersed in a French speaking society. I know a tiny bit of Spanish just by helping my kids with their Spanish. Here, Spanish is mandatory for grades K-7. Even so, they don't come out of 7th grade speaking it very well.

Hey, evilgus, that is another American stereotype to add to your list. We love OUR football. We aren't too good at Geography. We butcher the Queen's English. AND we only speak English. Hee hee hee. We sure are fun to be with, though!

Fluent in english, obviously. Fourth year of Spanish, so I suppose you could say I know it very well, but not completely fluent. Bengali: fluent speaking, but can't read or write it. It's my parent's native tongue. Japanese: Can understand bits and pieces of it, as a result of living there for three years when I was younger. Arabic: Can read it somewhat well, so I can read the Koran (I'm Muslim), but I don't understand it or speak it. So I suppose if you combine all the halfs and quarters of languages I can speak, that would be about 2.3857 languages I know.

These are ordered from speaking and understanding well to speaking and understanding less well I could also pick up the main lines of a german conversation (but couldnt input anything useful).

Oh. I just read on the introduce yourself thread that you are from Belgium! Cool! So I can't hold you up as a multi-lingual American. Darn. I'll have to look it up on a map (evilgus!). I know it is somewhere near France. Tee Hee.
