I waited to post the thread this year until I purchased my ticket, because at first I thought the lineup was relatively weak (I hadn't even heard of like 70% of the bands). But after a month and a half of listening to new artists and stuff, I am super excited. There are even more acts this year than last year that are "must-see." Oh and freaking APHEX TWIN cemented the fact that I have to go. "Must-See" ActsPRINCE Portishead Roger Waters Kraftwerk The Raconteurs Aphex Twin The Breeders Justice Fatboy Slim Goldfrapp Gogol Bordello M.I.A. Grand Ole Party Pendulum Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings Aesop Rock Sia dan le sac vs. Scroobius Pip Duffy Acts That Aren't "Must-See", But Could Be Fun If They Don't Conflict With AnyoneThe Verve Spiritualized Serj Tankian Hot Chip Cold War Kids Animal Collective Kate Nash DeVotchKa Flogging Molly Redd Kross Scars on Broadway Spank Rock Adam Freeland Plastiscines Is anybody else going? Any good recommendations for music to listen to? Does anybody care?

*raises hand* I care!
It's too expensive for me to go myself, and my parents wouldn't let me skip school on Friday, so instead I'm seeing Colin Meloy on the Monday after Coachella. Yeah, okay, that doesn't really compare. You're gonna have an awesome time!
You don't want to see Death Cab? Aww. Well, I would definitely recommend seeing Autolux and the Black Lips. (I've heard Black Lips put on a crazy live show.) Man Man would be enjoyable too. They all think they're vikings or something, haha. Very cool band. I personally like I'm From Barcelona but they're indie pop which I don't think is your thing. Same goes for Vampire Weekend. Also you could check out the Shout Out Louds and see what you think of them.
Oh! And DATAROCK! Last year there was a webcast of them playing live and it was awesome! They're super hyper and entertaining. Definitely try to see them.
Also, if you could get some good pictures / footage of The Raconteurs that would rock. ;D
Have fun

Awesome, thanks! I'll definitely check some of those groups out, I really haven't listened to much by Death Cab, anything you could suggest? And yeah I agree it's expensive, last year was a birthday present but this year I planned ahead and I got this thing called a "job" which actually pays me money for doing work. Anyways, Colin Meloy... from The Decemberists, right? I didn't know he was solo. I guess he's pretty good solo?

Plans is DCFC's really popular album. Transatlanticism is good too. youtube.com/watch?v=z4P_ybpAAJY^ Not the official vid but whatever. And yesh, Colin's from The Decemberists. He is amaaaazing solo, plays acoustic versions of Decemberists songs and then a bunch of covers. And his smile is awesome! <3

OK, from your recommendations I've checked out Autolux and Man Man so far, both are awesome. Definitely going to try and see them. Also, have you heard Metric? They're awesome too, I think it's some of the people from BSS. And sorry, but DCFC just isn't doing it for me.

Yeah, that's cool. I've heard a couple songs from Metric and they seem good. Hey you're right, two of them are in BSS too! ;D But then again, what kind of Canadian isn't in BSS. I'm From Barcelona is interesting. They've got 29 members... So the stage will be pretty crowded. Oh and they're actually from Sweden, not Barcelona. ^-^ youtube.com/watch?v=OwwbXHNGsjUyoutube.com/watch?v=R_LUDecugKoyoutube.com/watch?v=vMZY3BXmEFMAnyways. Dunno if you're into that stuff. Lemme know. They seem like a fun live show. If your schedule's not too full, lolz.

I'm trying to have a full schedule because last year I got there early and there were time when there was nobody I wanted to see, so I'm trying to get familiar with a lot of groups. But I'm From Barcelona seems like they put on a really awesome show.

No I haven't seen it, but I heard that they won an Oscar last year They did win the oscar this year verses Enchanted (3 songs) and August Rush. Once is worth checking out if only for the music. It is kind of a standard "chick flick" kind of a movie and it is a little cliche at times, but the music is what drew me in.

OMG
I am so thankful for the webcast.
What did the R's start their set with? I saw from "Top Yourself" to the end, but then there's a video of "Consoler of the Lonely" on Youtube, so I'm hoping that's the only song I missed. They didn't play for very long but duuude I loved it. I am so jealous! You better have been singing "are you steady noooow" ;D Gottta see them live sometime...
And how bout those freak show guitar effects? There were some awesome WTF moments. Oh and on Salute Your Solution, when he made his voice all umm... Stacatto? Yeah I think that's the term. With the piano and such. Haha, I love them.
Did you see Man Man? I'm gonna try to watch Shout Out Louds and Gogol Bordello, and maybe Stars. Frak I wish I could be there.
