Quick update: Here is a review of Spiderman 3: www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18335265/site/newsweek/?GT1=9246Looks like he liked it, althoughI am a bit worried that he didn't like 2 as much as the first one. 1 more day until I can see it, 2 more days until the rest of the world (or at least Cape Girardeau for that matter) comes roaring down our throats here at Town Plaza Cinema.

Yea, in the Ultimate Series, Brock's dad and Peter's dad created the symbiote, but in the original comic books, Spidey gets the suit after a huge battle in space (don't remember what it was about). Also, if a part of the suit went to Brock, is it possible the other part will go to that one guy and become Carnage? Possibly setting up for Spidey 4 Anyway, great to see you again, Dez. Haven't seen you in a long time. Secret Wars II volume 8 - heh - Back then I was collecting comic books a lot (for like 3 years) so I have all the spidey comics relating to the black suit and the birth of venom, etc. (1989, 90? maybe) Man, after this movie, I bet the prices on those go up - need to go check - have a couple web of spiderman #1's too (where he first gets rid of the black suit in the bell tower)...

A lot of rumors have been going around that Sam has signed up for it, and that production of Spidey 4 will begin right after Spidey 3 is released. As long as Sam sticks around, I plan on watching every single Spidey movie he makes.
Seeing the movie tonite, will have thorough and well thought out review up by late tonite or early tomorrow. Hoping it will be the best review of a movie I have ever done. (In case you haven't all noticed, my dream of being a writer, now accomplished, has always been followed by being the next Roger Ebert lol)

REVENGE IS LIKE A POISON
When I began work on my book, The Chronicles of Taron, I knew the morality I would apply to the main character, Taron. I wanted him to be brave yet scared, smart yet unsure of what he was to do. And I wanted him to be a good person, but I knew that with the circumstances I was giving him, I would have to force him to want revenge, however quietly it was displayed in his emotions. There is a point in all our lives where we want revenge; where the rage in us gets so hot, so pure, that it is near uncontrollable. For Taron, that time has yet to come, but for Spiderman, it has come in his third movie installment. Peter Parker has it all: A decent job, a fanbase who adore his alter ego, Spiderman, and the love of his life. But there are always bad things that go with the good things, and for Parker, it is trying to convince his once friend and now foe Harry Osborn that he did not kill his father. Harry, fresh with revenge and hate in his heart, has accepted his role as the Green Goblin. The comparison of Harry and Peter is very similar. When Peter finds out that his uncles killer is still on the loose, the poison known as revenge creeps into his heart, and it is so unlucky for him that an alien symbiote just so happens to try to bond with him. Peter accepts this new power, and uses it to flaunt his glory and fame, and to quench the thirst his revenge has for the man who destroyed a part of him that can never be repaired. But in doing this, he pushes those he loves away from him, and ultimately loses the one person he fought so hard to get. There are some very powerful scenes between Peter and Mary-Jane, most of which are not very happy. But with revenge comes redemption; everyone has the ability to make choices in their lives; even when they screw up, they can make things right. As I sat there watching this film, I was taken aback as to all the similarities there were between Taron and Peter. The morality tale in this film might push some people away; about halfway through the film, there is a 20 minute stretch of scenes that really needed to be cut at least in half. The dialogue is a little rough in parts, and although he sure looks the part, James Franco is not that good of an actor, especially when it comes to switching between emotions. But all of that is redeemed in the last 45 minutes, where the action kicks into high gear, and where everyone must make their choice as to where they stand. Sam Raimi does a very good job of tying up loose ends; I can only think of a couple, but I think he left them in case he ever decided to do another film. I cannot say it is better than the second film, because it isn't. But it certainly is just as good, and is a good way for Sam, Kirsten, and Toby to go out if they so wish it. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and would recommend it to anyone, comic book fan or not. The morality tales in it are well worth listening to, and the special effects and action will make any movie buff squeal with delight. The Spider-Man movies continue to push the envelope for comic book movies, embarrassing any who do no justice to the material from which it was spawned *cough*Fantastic Four*cough*. A powerful tale of revenge, redemption, and love, Spider-Man 3 is a great start to what looks to be a hell of a summer ready to unfold upon us.
Acting: 8/10 Special Effects: 10/10 Action: 9/10 Story: 9/10
Final Score: 9/10

Yes... it was quite intense.
Has anyone seen it in IMAX? I mean, it was breathtaking in a normal theatre, so I can only imagine what the experience is with a 6 story high screen.

saw it in digital Imax - very nice - the local theater installed it and opened it today just for this.
Liked the movie alot. The corny-ness factor went a bit high in some areas, especially in the jazz lounge scene. Other than that I really liked everything else quite a lot.
