I just saw 300 today. What an awesome movie! I saw Frank Miller's other movie Sin City and didn't like it at all but this one was great. The CG background and the special effects (like the flying blood and the slo-mo, speed up camera for the fighting) really made it feel like other Greek stories I've read (like The Iliad, The Odyessey, etc) where everything is just way over the top in terms of what the heroes faced and how brave they were, etc. My hubby, his buddy and I all agreed though that the love sceen was just out of place though, it just didn't fit with the rest of the film. I am going to go read the graphic novel though now. As to what else is Gerald Butler in, here's his imdb page imdb.com/name/nm0124930/He plays Phantom in The Phanton of the Opera movie (so incredibly attractive in that one!) |

I am going to go read the graphic novel though now. i just got back from seeing it too, like an hour ago. it was awesome and i agree with you that the background and the special effects were just way over the top. ex: something that i oddly realized and that annoyed me was that when there was ever flying blood, it always disappeared in midair and it came from everywhere. just like the flying sparks from the fires.... they were coming from places that didnt even have fires---just to make the characters look more dramatic when they were giving their speeches. but overall i liked it alot. it was a ton less graphic than the departed, though that was also great. and yea the love scene was somewhat irrelevant.....but now that i think about it, they prolly put that in there to emphasize the relationship between leonitus and his wife so the rest of the stuff about them would fit better. |

I think Sin City was better than 300 see i liked sin citys storyline more than 300's but some of the action in 300 i liked better then sin city i wonder what miller's next big hit movie is going to be hmmmmmmm KILLER HORSES! *cough* ;D |
