i don't really need to know what song i'm listening to, but i do need to have the ramblecast on my ipod. what's the cheapest ipod that's can do aac? i will probably never buy a video ipod. The cheapest is the shuffle for nearly 80$ i think.

I guess a Nano would be...before I got my video, I didn't think I would need it either. But then I realized that in a few months I filled up my Mini, and how many cd's I actually had. Got a 60GB, and still have some space left.

I'm awaiting a full screen touch video ipod without the phone. Hoping for an announcement in Spring - we'll see...
(oh also, more than 8 gb of flash memory as well - maybe 30-60 gb)

I have the shuffle....and it's alright...but I'd really like to upgrade...don't think I need the video Ipod...but maybe one of the new Nanos would be nice. The worst part about the shuffle..you can't fast forward well without losing where you were...or you lose your place..>EASILY if it gets shut off.

I have a 2GB nano. I can't fit nearly all my music on it, but I don't have a ton of money. The nano was a good compromise of a good deal of music and a lower price. I also listen to podcasts on it a lot, but I have to take them off once I've listened to them. This isn't a big deal for me at all though.

i don't see the need for 60 gigs. i know there are a lot of music enthusiasts that need more, but my macbook only has 60 gigs, and that's with 1000+ songs, podcasts, etc, all of lost season 3, and a ton of flash movies and stuff. i still have about 25 gigs left.

I agree. You get 50 more gb for just $100, but I can't see anyone needing all that space. The most I've ever used is about 10 gb and that's with music, podcasts, a movie or tv shows.

It's for the video side of it. larger screen = better resolution = more memory. I'd like to have a number of movies if I'm going to travel (often travel 2-3 weeks at a time). Plus I subscribe to a number of vidcasts as well. And finally, it can double as a hard drive in a pinch as needed. JLSK

I first got the 6gig apple green mini. About 4 months later, right before a trip to the east coast, my boss handed me the 30 gig video and said "here's something for your trip." (I have a great boss.) I have nearly filled the 30 gig twice. Go figure. I would like a 60 gig eventually.

I got the newest Generation 5, 80gb, video, black iPod. And I love it. I can watch Jay and Jack whenever. And now when I go to Chicago I don't have to fumble for cds. Because they have 1 rock station. I have a few TV episodes on here too. It's really cool.
I would not mind a shuffle, but it's too small I would lose it.

Way to reprsent the Ipod Photo Jay, that's what I have. It's never let me down.
I'm waiting on the next generation after the video to get a new ipod. I'm too hoping its like the Iphone, just without the phone. But it would rock if you could download podcasts right to the ipod.

my friend told me about this mp3 player company, archos. has anyone here heard anything good about them? my friend has the video player, and he loves it. i might get the photo one, but i don't know if it'll play aac. how can i tell, and if it can't, can i convert an aac to an mp3? that's probably a stupid question.
