The thing with Apollo was a mistake, Moore pretty much owned up to it on the Podcast - they had no idea what to do with the fat Lee, so he dropped the pounds overnight.

It appears Starbuck is fracking every male on the ship This does sound familiarly cylon. And wouldnt it be funny to see all of the former(BSG75) main characters being turned into Cylons, perhaps to re-play the whole story within a matrix-like cylon research project. Fill in a few humans to the equasion to get the chaos going and find earth by using them. Oh, sounds like a BSG crackpot theory. hehe cheers oLO

Ok, I'm almost finished with season 2 and have alot of comments to make. This show has what Lost is missing. I may grow tired of it, but I love the social and political themes. The power struggle- that's what I wanted to see with Sawyer, Locke and Jack. I have never gotten emotional about Lost, even through character deaths. But at the end of the first episode of BSG, 33, when Roslin added a number on the board- OMG I lost it. From the beginning, I have felt emotionally connected to these characters. THIS IS DRAMA. I have a feeling he finally gets what he deserves, but at the point I'm at now, Baltar never gets called out for his wrongs. Nobody ever asked about the nuclear warhead he was given to create the Cylon detector. And nobody asked why he didn't tell anyone Sharon tested positive. I guess everyone assumed it didn't work? Oh, and the scene where Baltar is interrogating Sharon? "DO YOU LOVE THIS MAN?!!??!" OMG, almost the exact same scene as Pickett and Kate and Sawyer! I couldn't believe the blatant plagiarism. I guess Lindeluce would call it an homage. I don't really have time to be obsessed with another show, but I have been looking into spoilers. I saw a picture somewhere that showed Baltar being downloaded but I think Ron Moore claims that's just a dream sequence. And Katee Sackhoff is saying in interviews that she's leaving the show but the character isn't. Is this right? Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm sure someone will. Anyways, I would say this show is as good if not better than Lost. Or it has what Lost is missing. I sent an email to Jay and Jack suggesting they should check this show out. I think any fan of Lost would love this show.

And another thing, I've had a long debate with myself about who is the hottest- Apollo, Anders or Helo. Apollo is the obvious, pretty-boy type, and I haven't seen much of Ander's character. But Helo? You have to respect a guy that will stand by his baby's toaster. And I share the same birthday with what's-his-name. He has a strange name that I can't pronounce much less remember how to spell. I'll just forever call him Helo.

I think his first name is pronounced "TAY-mo." I heard it on the roundtable discussion podcast (a must-hear for any fan!). He's my favorite male character too. This is a very good show overall. The characters are very well done, the politics - in general and within the various groups - is interesting too. Most of the fighting sequences are awesome and a lot better than what you would expect. I dare anybody to try to top Galactica dropping through the New Caprica sky! A few storylines went nowhere (fat Lee, Kara's pseudo-child) as with any show, and like Lost, they better not rely on "shocking" deaths or near-deaths too much. I have heard of a few people who really like Lost but shy away from "spaceship" shows. I'd say give the less battle-intensive episodes a chance first then watch everything in sequence.

I haven't gotten to any of that, evepheonix, but I think it's just around the corner for me. I've listened to those podcasts before I knew anything about the show. I guess that was Tahmoh that said when he got to the set in season two, everyone thought he was an extra? It's it hilarious when Ron Moore accidentally calls the Galactica the Enterprise?

This is one thing that bothers me- their phones have cords. My phones don't have cords and I don't expect the phones on my futuristic, scifi, fantasy television show to have cords either. And also, their helmets have lights on the inside. Sure, it looks cool, but not practical. You can't see out of light and into darkness very well. I think it's that rod and cone thing we learned in elementary school science class.
Evepheonix, who is the hottest guy?

Yeah, the phones have cords because the technology on Galactica was purposefully not updated - I think to make it harder for the Cylons to infiltrate it originally, or at least that's the impression I got. I could get in LOTS of trouble if I answered that question in general! On BSG, however, I'll still go with Helo. Aside from being married to a toaster, he has less issues too.

I must disagree and say that Lee (Apollo) is definetly the hottest guy on BSG, but Helo is my second choice

And also, their helmets have lights on the inside. Sure, it looks cool, but not practical. You can't see out of light and into darkness very well. I think it's that rod and cone thing we learned in elementary school science class. First off, Galactica was the oldest and most "retro" of all existing Battlestars in the air when the series began. In fact, it was about to be decommissioned when all went Kablooey. It was also the only Battlestar that didn't get shut down by the Cylon attack because of the lack of integrated computer controls, and one of two that didn't get destroyed in the process too. In addition to all that, it was purposely built using older hardwired technologies in the first place because of the Cylons ability to affect computers and systems. Most everything on the ship is using older hardwired systems. There is no integrated computer system or network. There are no wireless controls or communications within the ship. There is no single power core or life support units. The ship was made to work even under the rigors of battle with a highly advanced computer based foe. Also, if you look on a number of modern military vehicles too (especially in the Navy), you see similar things with hardwired communications still in place. If there is some kind of interference, jamming, damage, or what not, the hardwired system is still most likely going to work. The more we rely on computers the more that can go wrong due to small things. As for the lights on the inside of the helmets, that's something you have to do for television or movies. Same thing on most every helmet based movie or show there has been (The Abyss comes instantly to mind). Without light you can't see the actor's face and can't get the emotion across with their expressions. It is a necessary unreality of the medium, just like sound in space.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. And that's the point of the show. Relying on computers is what got them in this predicament in the first place. And sound in space- to me, the use of silence in space makes it more eerie. I prefer no sound, as in Firefly. As I said before, I loved 33. What is everyone's favorite episode?

BSG is pretty explicit. And for the rest of the conversation about who's hottest...yeah BSG is pretty explicit.

It's a pretty gritty show. I wouldn't let my 8 year-old watch it. I don't understand why some people want the show to move to NBC. The show would be drastically different.
