What an ending to Lost, after all of these mysteries we come to find out it was the One Armed Man!
Has anyone reviewed to see which arm is the one missing? Is it consistent? Usually I have a theory for any new topic, but this one has got me completly stumped. Its sugnificant but I have no theory as to why........

(I posted a different thread before I saw this one...Sorry!)
Hey, I was thinking about some stuff while reading the possible Spoilers thread, and I had a "Moment" (I don't know how to explain it except as a buch of flashbacks in quick succession. Thinking about different stuff) So here is my reason for the Lost Arms.
I thought about the Heart of Darkness being in the Hanso Photo...I made a comment about Apocalypse Now being based off of it.
I also thought about Desmond shooting the stuff into his arm.
I then thought about the People involved with Dharma cutting off/losing their arms.
Thought about this scene from Apocalypse Now... Kurtz(Brando) talking to Cptn. Willard(Sheen) about his past...
Kurtz: I remember when I was with Special Forces. Seems a thousand centuries ago. We went into a camp to inoculate the children. We left the camp after we had inoculated the children for Polio, and this old man came running after us and he was crying. He couldn't see. We went back there and they [The Vietcong] had come and hacked off every inoculated arm. There they were in a pile. A pile of little arms. And I remember... I... I... I cried. I wept like some grandmother. I wanted to tear my teeth out. I didn't know what I wanted to do. And I want to remember it. I never want to forget it. I never want to forget.
SO, My theory, the Sickness came from a bad batch of whatever Desmond was shooting into his arm. Dr. Candle and the others who are missing arms got the bad batch, and cut off their arms in an attempt to stop the sickness. The Batch in SWAN is good, that is why it is "Quarntined"
This would also account for the two groups of OTHERS.
Love to Know what y'all think! Jack?
Also, I don't know about the others, but Candle was missing his Left Arm, the same arm desmond was shooting the stuff into!

Wow, Jermey that's fantastic! I've never heard that before, but it presents a very very strong case! Not to mention, that passage was chilling and quite appropriate. If I were in charge of Listener Theory of the Week, I'd choose that.

! Not to mention, that passage was chilling and quite appropriate. There is much more to it, the entire speech that he does about it is quite disturbing. If you are interested, you can find it here... www.imdb.com/title/tt0078788/quotesI thought the fact that in the Quote it is talking about innoculating the [glow=red,2,300]Children[/glow].

I remember that speech and it was horrifying. Maybe I'm not too far off in what I said in the Dripping Walt thread. Maybe Walt was reacting to being infected (or I guess injected) with the illness. Maybe the Dharma people injected him with some bioengineered substance to attempt to enhance his psychic powers.

Has anyone who has any actual medicine knowledge looked at the screen shot of the bottle of stuff Desomud was shooting into himself? It was shown pretty clearly.....

Sorry to kind of go back a few posts in the thread, but I am certain that Dr Candle also has a glass eye. So it could either be his or the 'fisherman's' spare eye the tailies found. I reckon its Candle's because the fisherman dude, would he have two? I suppose it's possible, I don't know anyone with a glass eye to ask if they normally have a spare stashed away somewhere.
