New top 5...done with more thought:
1) The Offspring - I completly forgot how much I love their music. Its awesome! 2) Rage Against the Machine - guitar riffs...what more can I say? 3) Breaking Benjamin - good all around 4) Linkin Park - only group that I sat through an entire album (2 actually) and liked all the songs (well, all but one from each...) 5) Default - good all around

Im not sure if I posted my list yet, but ill do it anyway, in order... - The Mars Volta
- The Gorillaz
- Mindless Self Indulgence
- Morning Wood
- Gym Class Heroes
The Mars Volta has been my Favorite band for at least 4 years now. Their music has always touched me. Its also the first band that led me to the realization that lyrics were essential for a song to be great (this was after my weird techno phase in life).

I have always hated Papa Roach, they are just not my style, but that is my opinion.

I completly agree with your list, but Papa Roach? Not to flame or anything, but they are terrible. maybe a little, but when I was making that list I thought of their song "...To Be Loved" which is a totally awesome song. but if they did not have that song then they might be terrible.

Maybe you should have filled that spot with a different band.

d Hurleys :-) (actually theyr my friend on myspace) :-) Cheque's in the mail. Oh and Exalt, for stroking the ol' ego. Okay - I gotta rant here, fellas, so putting this in "rant" tags: <rant> Firstly - solo artists like Dylan, John Mayer, etc shouldn't count as bands. I'll concede duos like Simon & Garfunkel cos there's more than one. Secondly: Ok, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Stones, etc rock, but: with the exception of Jay (I've personally seen his playlists switching like a freaky musical time machine) do you listen to them every day? And also: how many of you on this board are actually old enough to have gone to one of their concerts? </rant> Okay, rant over. So I'm a bit of an indie snob, I'll admit, and I have let 7 pages slide me by while I selected my five bads on play frequency, and freshness. They're all modern, cos I leave the old bands, tipping my hat knowing I hear them in everything that has gone on since their hayday. 1: The Shins (as featured on OC, Scrubs, Garden State) 2: BareNaked Ladies (just got into some of their complete stuff - Stunt, Maybe you should drive, Maroon - it rocks STILL) 3: Augie March (you may have to be an Aussie to get them, but they are the pinacle of Aussie indie band pub rock goodness) 4: Zero 7. I LOVE Sia's voice, tho she looks like an emmaciated junkie pixie. 5: Secret Chiefs 3 - the ultimate aural experience. Check-em out. They do... EVERYTHING. At once. It blows my mind. Now - can we have a solo artists thread, Jay?
