Haha the discussion didn't need me. But here's a hard question (for me at least) which book is your favorite.

That's easy! Hands down, my choice is Goblet of Fire. I know alot of people gave JKR crap that it was hastily written but its my favorite because it did a great job of widening the scope of the wizarding world by introducing all these other schools. I loved the Triwizard Tournament, the movie did not do that justice at all!
And like Jo said, it laid out everything left for Harry to do. He knew his role as a wizard was going to be given even more responsibility because Voldy returned. That part was so dramatic! Now that Voldy has returned it really gave the series a more ominous tone capitalizing on the events after Prisoner of Azkaban and making all that fear and paranoia Harry had only heard about before become more fully realized.
BUT! I have to commend JKR for her brilliant and in my opinion BEST writing in Half Blood Prince.

My favorite is between Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince. OotP was so much fun to read! It was packed with so much stuff. Going to Grimmauld Place and just hanging out with everybody. (I never know why Hermione always stays with them for so long, she does have family too.) Umbridge!!!!!!! Even though how evil she was I loved her! Well I mean I love all the scenes where she got made fun of. Her little cough, and McGonnagal during the Career Advise, perfect. Fred and George, "Give her hell from us Peeves." Need I say more? The Ministry scenes, amazing. The duel between Dumbledore and Voldemort was so fun, I always wanted them to duel! There are so many memorable moments in this book, I can't seem to fit them all in here.
Half-Blood Prince was written extrmemely well. The highlight of that book was definatly the pensieve scenes. But for some reason it just didn't feel right. I think the pensieve parts were too dominant, we didn't get enough class scenes which I love. I'm not saying it was bad, it was just different. Thinking about that makes me realize how weird the 7th will be because I support the theory that he is not going to return to Hogwarts.
So overall OotP is my pick for favorite. Long enough you think?

He's gotta go back! I loved Umbridge and the Twins exit. How cool is that?

Harry even said it himself, he is not gonna return (for school but for other purposes maybe, HBP book?)
They better not cut the twins exit out from the movie or else they are going to pay!

Well about the movies is remember they are movies. If they stayed faithful to the books we would be there for 6 hours. They do the best job they can to make a 734 word book into a movie. I was fine that they didn't have any house elves in this one, they didn't need to have any to explain the major story.

My favorite books were Prisoner of Azkaban because it was when Harry found out about Sirius and basically his true story on kind of what happened after Harry's parents died and how Pettigrew betrayed his parents. And my 2nd favorite book was The Order of the Phoenix because of the Prophecy, the twins leaving Hogwarts scene (which rocked!!) that Blaw mentioned, and how well the characterizations were just done in that book.

Favorite book was OOTP because I loved the ministry scenes, Umbridge at Hogwarts, and when Sirius died, I cried like a little girl...it was just so well-written.
POA and HBP are close seconds.

Pottercasts out everybody!
POA would be my third. I loved the revelation at the end! I was like holy ****, Pettigrew did it! And he's been with ron all these years!
