Hurley barely made it onto the plane, didn't he? Rose would be dead if it wasn't for Jack. Other specific-gene-carriers actually die, like boone and shannon ... what about their genes? Still, it's sounds like a plausible theory. |

I forget, were Boone and Shannon manipulated on the plane?
I'm not saying everyone is "good genetically", just some of them. Also, let's assume that I'm right and creating a vaccine is what they are after. Perhaps by kidnapping some of the people as soon as possible they are actually people who were not genetically good, that they wanted to kidnap them before the disease got to them, to save them. They saved those they could. In the case of the losties, Ethan was discovered before he could make the list. Maybe the list is built off of blood samples that the other would need to take or something, which might explain why it was something that took some time to accomplish for Ethan - larger group of people, etc.
Maybe having a baby born with the disease gives it a natural immunity which is why they wanted Claire and the baby, maybe having her boyfriend as a part of DHARMA allowed them to get the right genes into Aaron for this to happen.
Also, they waited like 40 days to kidnap Walt, and even longer for Kate, Sawyer, and Jack. After they were hit by the disease.
Maybe they let Walt and Aaron go because while they were immune to the desease they weren't capable of producing the vaccine.
This doesn't explain why they didn't just take Kate, Sawyer and Jack when they had them the first time with Locke in the mountains. Unless they needed Locke to destroy the hatch or use the failsafe or something... I don't know just speculating....
The more I get into this the more it seems lacking. I think that perhaps this is part of the answer, but there is a whole other part that ties to special powers and the smoke monster that is all tied to this too.

shirt not good enough to get anything off of - may not be a glyph anyway. The other clue is from the new ROT posting People... we need to look into this

regarding sign language - someone from TLEC had his mom read the signs and they map one to one with what is being said in the movie - nothing hidden there...

oh - also check out ninja's site - sounds like there is a physical sheet with a glyph in Sydney somewhere, so the latest glyph just released may be that as well.
