I have noticed a lot lately while exalting Jay that there have been numorous smites towards him. Now, I don't know how the rules go, but in my opinion even if the person is being a total a-hole, just leave that board. Smiting is rude, and will end up getting yourself smote. The same thing has also been happening to Jack as well, so it isn't just one side. THis all is just for fun, and it doesn't need to get nasty. Anyone agree?

Yeah, agreed. That's actually a rule in the Jay Army, no smiting Jack. The Jack army doesn't have an anti-smiting rule because they're disorganized.

With you!!!! Thanks guys. Just been noticing it a lot lately. There is this forum for this book series called Pendragon. Everyone there is mean and rude, and they curse and everything, and that is not what I want from this forum. This place is great, let's keep it that way!

Well said, Ben. I don't think that's much of a problem here though.

Ok... now... don't Smite me boys... but, isn't the whole smiting thing is about keeping balance... there is no benefit to giving karma, if it is not equalized by the power of smiting... Don't get me wrong, personally, I'm not a big smitter, and I don't care to be smitten. HOWEVER, it makes things more exciting. Of course, people can go overboard with ANYTHING, and frequently do, but I gotta FIGHT for the right to SMITE!!! Everything in moderation... good is not good, if it isn't contrasted by bad... I do agree though... Smiters will eventually get what they are giving back... just as Karma will come back to those who spread the love... still... I don't hate the smiters, or begrudge the right to smite. As for smiting in regard to Jay or Jack... I can't imagine a listener in the listener forum going all smite crazy and showing them that kind of negativity... I'm sure it happens... but I wouldn't spend hours putting something together every week if people were always hating... might be why there are so few podcasts left... still, let's hope that these people have valid reasons... and even if they don't... it's a personal choice.

Yea, but people can see it as being rude and inconsiderate. I myself would really be upset if I was suddenly smited (which I have been before), so I understand when everyone on the boards wants a no smiting policy. And don't worry, I won't smite you!

I see where you are coming from... in fact, I'm from the blessed south, and down here, we often feel much obliged to avoid the negative and paint on the happy friendly face... it makes everything look real nice... BUT, it lacks sincerity. If there's no way to express the negative, or if people are condemned for expressing the negative, then the positive is less substantial, less real, and frankly- less valid. I've been smited too... in fact, I was very hurt the first time it happened, but it made me appreciate every Karma cookie I received all the more. The secret is balance, which you will one day learn young grasshopper. ~Katie

So, taking this outside the "Karma wars" I tend to agree with Katie on this one.
If you are going to have a Kharma system, it makes sense to have it go both ways. Theoretically it should be a feedback system to people about how others generally view their posts, etc. It can maybe be a little hard to have a smite go on you, but as Katie says it makes you think about what you posted that might have caused this and be more careful, considerate, etc. in the future.
It also makes the Exalts all that more valuable.
The reality is that the whole kharma system does have an ability to be random and people can just as easily smite for no reason as exalt, so one does have to really look at this and not take it too seriously, but if you were consistently getting smites or exalts it is a feedback system that allows others to anonymously help you understand if what you are doing is contributing to the forum and community or detracting from it.

I agree with no smiting, unless totally necesary, it is a last resort, like a gun.

I personally thought we had this settled long ago - in fact - I posted on both sides - that there was a "NO SMITING JAY OR JACK" rule - it's on here somewhere - I am not sure the smites are coming from the Jack side - I personally think there are "others" if you will - who are just being childish and rude - and WE ARE ORGANIZED - WE JUST DON'T INVITE THE JAYS TO THE SECRET MEETINGS And the only point to this is to see which side can get to 5,000 1st - not like "real" smiting and karma-ing - if you will

Amen sista. According to Jay, if someone says something you like you should exalt them, if someone says or does something you don't like, you should smite them. This is an important balance, so that its not every1 has massively large karma

Yeah, agreed. That's actually a rule in the Jay Army, no smiting Jack. The Jack army doesn't have an anti-smiting rule because they're disorganized. oh give me a break you have told me millions of times, dharmashark ,that you used your sister's account and made other ones just to smite jack(which she even got banned! so now her sister cant go on)! thats why his karma was so low and then jay put it to -5,000! so don't act innocent and just say oh i would never smite jack or anyone else! so if you think dharmashark is just a sweet little 23 year old girl think again(oh and she is not just lieing about the smiting thing)! so if anyone had a good time bringing jack's karma up from -5,000, thank dharmaskark because she was the one who brought it down which led jay to put it to -5,000! oh and jack's army is not disorganized!
