ls14, welcome to the forum. This is not the last season.
But could you pleaaaaaase stop writing just in capital letters? I don't know if this is your *thing* or whatever but it implies that you're shouting all your sentences and that is a bit unnerving. Thanks.

from what we know their will definitely be a season 4 so if you add up all the episodes from:
Season 1: 24 episodes Season 2: 23 episodes Season 3: 22 episodes Season 4: 22 episodes (specualted)
that leaves us around 91 episodes and Damon Lindelof has said that he would like to stop the show around 100 episodes so we don't really know if there will be a season 5. I have heard that if there is a season 5, it may only be half as many episodes as a regular season is. Or that instead of finishing the show on tv, they make the ending into a movie.....But basically this is all specualtion and we don't know anything for sure and probably won't for a while, but they are working on an end-date for Lost as we speak.
*Oh and the reason why this season questions are being answered about the others is because Damon and Carlton have said that:
Season 1: was about the beach and the Losties Season 2: was about the hatches and the Tallies Season 3: was about the Others Season 4: they haven't told us yet

they might have a 5th mini season. i hope they have an alternate reality mini season, where the plane lands, and we find out what their lives would be like, and we would learn that it would be better if they crashed.

now thats a really interesting idea...i think i like the idea of an alternate reality version (but at the end of course, after we finish the original story)

Technically Seasons had an extra episode. The season finales were 2 hours. Which would have been 2 seperate episodes.

Technically Seasons had an extra episode. The season finales were 2 hours. Which would have been 2 seperate episodes. from what i understand, ABC/Damon and Carlton don't consider the 2-hour finales as 2 separate episodes, but one episode that is 2 hours long Example: The second half of Season 3 will go from Feb. 7th - May 23rd....this gives you 16 episodes and from what I hear, the May 23rd season finale will be 2 hours long *i got my info on the number of episodes per season from Lostpedia.com

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS THE LAST SEASON OF LOST AS ALOT OF QUESTIONS ARE BEING ANSWERED ABOUT THE ISLAND AND THE OTHERS? I just read in our local paper yesterday that the ratings are way down since it's return, but they did say that there would be at least one more season. Let's hope the ratings will pick up really soon, so we can have more than just one more.

I don't think there would be any good reason to cancel Lost right now. It is no longer a ratings juggernaut, but it is still a ratings winner. Also, canceling Lost before the big questions are answered wouldn't look good for ABC when it comes to fan relations.
I think there will be one more season after this, and possibly a full or partial pick-up for a fifth season. I believe it is in ABC's best interest to hit the 100 episode mark that Damon and Carlton want, because 100 episodes is more attractive for syndication.
I'm really not worried about Lost and cancellation. No, Lost won't last forever, but I feel pretty confident that it will last as long as it's supposed to.
