You guys didn't mention this, but in "What Kate Did" when she visits who she believes to be her dad, she asks her dad why he didn't tell her Wayne was her real father. How does she know this. While scrapbooking for his birthday, she receives a picture with a date several months before she was born. Where was her dad in the picture?
Korea.
She says he was in Korea.
He couldn't have been in the Korean war, but who knows? So far we have Alvar Hanso, Jin and Sun, Sam Austen (Kate's dad), and possibly others with ties to Korea. Not to mention, In the episode ''...In Translation" we see Hurley on Korean TV, although Jin and Sun don't.

geez........you're right
I cant for the life of me figure out the LOST time line the pieces of the puzzle dont seem to fit
but I DO think the Hurley that we see bopping around the record shop just before he is pointed out to be the big ticket winner is quite a bit younger than the Hurley we see on the Island but how much time has passed ? I'm not sure but you're right ...certainly not 20 years

Just because Kate's dad was in Korea doesn't mean it was the Korean War. Keep in mind there's always tension at the border of North and South Korea, especially with Kim Jong Il in charge, and US forces continually have a presence there.

Well, I figured out how old Kate is when she crashes on the island. She's 24 when she commits her crime and the Marshel says he's been chasing her for four years at the airport. So, that makes Kate 28 or 29 on the island. And I agree with Dashn about Korea, I think it's more a reference to Sun and Jin than it is to the timeline.

I didn't ultimately say it was the Korean War. Good call on Kate's age, Emma. So how many people do we KNOW the age of?

I believe so. And Aaron, of course. He's about two weeks old. And Joop the orangutan. He should be at least 105.

Don't you think Walt's going to form a special bond with Joop? After all, Walt does have a way with animals.

My only problem with that is Evangeline Lilly doesn't look any older now than she did when she killed Wayne - the actress is only 24 anyway, and she doesn't look anywhere near 30 yet. I agree with you both about Korea; I thought her Dad was simply stationed there, not in the war. The technology doesn't fit that timeline anyway.

That's one of the big problems for shows that have a lot of jumps through time. Sometimes when they try to "young" up their stars it works (Charlie in The Moth does look years younger without his beard) or it doesn't (anyone remember Jack's bad flashback hair?).
