Yep, I heard about this on LOSTcasts last night. I have no idea how anyone could catch that.

I personaly think this is great proof that out "henry Gale" is an other and is just making up hs story from his surroundings.

Maybe he's not making up the balloon story, Dirge. Maybe he's spent some time in the hatch? Waited for someone to show up and take his place. Maybe Kelvin? Desmond's little island buddy? And just like Desmond left when Jack and Locke found him, maybe Henry left when he found his replacement, Kelvin. That would possibly explain the balloon picture being there. He might have taken on the project and brought some mementos with him to keep him company. I think we should look a little harder at the all the items in the hatch for more clues about the original people in the hatch.
I'm saying all this because I don't know if Henry Gale could come up with such a story under the pressure at the moment. Maybe he really was rich, sold his company to support the Dharma Initiative, and Dharma said "Thanks! Now push the button."
What do you think?

Maybe he and all the others have been coached with cover stories. Still, this guy is only in 6 episodes so we`ll find out soon. I personaly think the others will come and get him back thereby starting the "war" officialy.

yeah dirge
i agree. the others will find a way to pull gale back because he almost screwed up. sayid was too close to breaking him. i think gale was brainwashed for the "cause" and truly believed what he was saying.
creepy...

Could Sayid have been lead across "the line" by Danielle, thus starting the war? That would excuse the Others coming into the camp to retrieve Gale... IF he's one of them.

I doubt that Danielle would treck into "others" territory. She's a very cautious woman.

Here's even more confirmation.... gotta be a tree. I've seen other "nature" pictures in the hatch... makes sense... haha how sad.

I still say it's a balloon. With the tree picture, it looks like a tree. With the balloon picture, it looks like a balloon.
