Seeing all these posts of "it's all about character" and "what about the mysteries" got me thinking about why can't it be both. Both have to see that you can't have one without the other. I loved how it ended because it did bring out emotions, which was driven by character arch, but there's still a side that wonders of the mythology. Just wanted to hear your guys last questions of each. Here are a few of mine. Gonna post a few, let me know what you think.
For starters, Jacob said they were all brought because they were alone and flawed. Locke however would have been an average kid (don't tell me what I can't do high school kid) if it wasn't for the island. Jacob even says "sorry it has to be this way" so he too never really had a choice, right?
Ben: what made Ben forget about sayid shooting him if it is one straight forward timeline? All that lead him to discuss being a prophet/martyr with Jack and Locke. I also never understood what he pulled out from the vent when Jack was ready to go back to the island. As well as why he told Locke he never pushed the button, then looked pissed when the sky turned purple.
Still don't get why Kate would have the same "fate" in her "redemption/purgatory" state. She's still running and really just Claire believed she didn't do it. However Jack in the real world told her that it didn't matter what she did. So isn't that basically the same in terms of coming to grips?
Was Isabella similar to brothers mom when she showed up to each respectively in that bright light? And then smokey got to Isabella. Or was smokey playing both parts? I still get the feeling that Claudia appearing to mib was the good part of the island since Claudia appeared before smokey came out. Ben seeing his mother, didn't she have a light too?
Gonna sleep on it and think about some other things.
