ABC is a freaking IDIOT!!!!! They totally f*cked up the ending of LOST!!! This was not a part of the show! Some dumb clueless ABC move to add additional images to the credits. THEY DID NOT DIE FROM THE PLANE CRASH! The Flash sideways was the "purgatory" world and on the Island the people were actually ALIVE. Damon and Carlton must be PISSED!! Someone needs to be fired at ABC. I've been so sick of hearing everyone pregnant dog about how the ending meant that everyone died from the oceanic plane crash, so nobody ever survived. I never once believed it because I knew that jack's eye closing was The End. I had a feeling that was a dumb move on ABC's part to add something during the credits. Just think of how many people are out there pregnant doging right now that the ending of the show was a waste of time. That is so not fair to the show's creators or us fans. latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2010/05/lost-exclusive-abc-sets-the-record-straight-about-the-series-finales-plane-crash-images.htm

It's funny, here in San Diego they didn't show the end credits, as they wanted to cut straight to breaking news of an aftershock of the Easter Sunday quake that occurred during the finale--so I wasn't sure what everybody was talking about, "plane wreckage strewn across a beach." And I thought the "B-word" referred to any female dog, not just those pregnant. Is the censor on this site taking liberties, or have I been ignorant of the "B-word"'s true meaning all these years?

I think people are stupid who thought the wreckage shot was meant to say that they died. It was DURING THE CREDITS aka extra shots. Like movies who put bloopers during the credits, DUH they're not a part of the movies. It was for emotion, I cried at the very end, then the silence of the wreckage was a moment for me to realize all we'd been through. It was magical and I'm glad they put it!

I kind of took it to mean - if it meant anything - was "This is where it all started" - nothing more - nothing less.

Anyone who thought that wreckage wasn't just shots of the 815 camp on the beach and such are like the people who didn't recognize Jack's eye in that teaser promo after the season 5 finale.
I just don't get how it's possible.
But I don't blame abc, though. And I don't think it's necessary to FIRE anyone. That's really extreme.

In talking to a friend today about this and she said that if you just HAD to read something into their showing the wreckage - it was that "this story is over - there's no one left (except Hurley and Ben - and they were nowhere near the beach) - and just because - after the 1st few episodes of the show - they didn't show the wreckage all that much - doesn't mean it wasn't there.
So basically - the story's over - the island is empty (for the most part) - go home.
That's IF you just HAD to read something into it. Did it really need to be there - no - it should have just ended with the LOST logo and that's it - but I guess some genius thought to add it as the credits (which have to appear) ran. I mean even the Bad Robot was silent

Yeah,I really took notice of the silent 'bad robot'. But then my dish has been messing up lately with no audio. All of the during- the- week late night shows, sound was only on part time [and not the times I wanted to hear of course--thank goodness for CC]As far as the plane wreckage, I figured they were giving us one last look! (before they turn it into the 'Lost amusement park') The beginning and the END!

I'm just frustrated because I felt I had to argue with so many people after it ended because they were convinced the wreckage meant 815 killed everyone and they were dead on the island all this time. Since it was after the cut to LOST, I too assumed it was nothing more than what it actually was. But there are too many people who read into it that were so confused and didn't understand the end. Then I questioned my own understanding when so many people talked about that scene.
Okay, so maybe it's a little harsh to want to fire someone, but I do think whoever decided to show these scenes made a bad decision that confused a large part of the audience, who now may never understand what the show was about if they aren't super fans like us. Including my best friend who wanted to give up on lost after 115 episodes and I begged her not to give up at that point. Then she missed the finale and says "I already know how it ends. They all died in the plane crash. That's stupid". So I can only imagine how many people who already hated the show, hated it even more for something unintended.

I still don't get why so many people think they died with the 815 crash. It was clearly stated that they did not. I kind of liked the beach shot actually.

Yeah, I do think whoever did add the footage to the end maybe didn't realize how dense some people can be....
I mean, I know some people WANT that to be the ending, and I guess they can think that if they want to....
But most people who aren't familiar with Lost will hear about it and write off Lost as being stupid and having an ending that makes all the seasons beforehand pointless.

I think if anyone wants to take the ending in a different way than you do, that's their perogative, and you're wasting your time arguing with them.

I totally feel your pain - with the knuckleheads who had to read something into that footage - it was silly.
