Ilana’s last name is Verdansky. Like most Lost characters, I believed she was named after a real scientist. Have googling Verdansky a few times and finding nothing, I found Vladimir Vernadsky and the concept of the noosphere

After last night’s episode, I believe the flashsideways was a noosphere created by our Losties, or perhaps the light represents the noosphere, or a bit of both. But what I couldn’t figure out was if the name was spelled wrong, or if I’m totally off base. Until I found this page: www.noosphereforum.org/ where Vladmir’s named is misspelled Verdansky.
