This Show was just a remake of Jacob's Ladder, a movie that took just an hour and a half to get to the same conclusion and didn't screw people off for 6 years with non relevant stuff.

I love that Hurley made up his own "rules" during his time as protector, and found a way to "hold" everyone in place until they were all there and could move on together. AWESOME! Best reunion: Sawyer and Juliet. Best moment of all......Vincent laying down beside Jack, so he didn't "die alone".

Best reunion: Sawyer and Juliet. Best moment of all......Vincent laying down beside Jack, so he didn't "die alone". In my opinion, they could have explained all of this with Hurley and the "time not existing in the flash sideways" better. It was not until I read it on this forum that I understood that. I know, I know. you have to think to enjoy this show, and true fans have to get it and love it... to me, the finale could have been better in the very end. The first two hours were awesome (except for no actual smoke monster - that disappointed me). The last half hour just left me feeling like there wasn't enough there. I don't need more "answers" per se, but the story could have been told better in the end. If that makes any sense...

Why would we assume Hurley brought this about, when even HE had to be sought out and evangelized by Desmond? I think this is a (forgive the reference) "Titanic" moment where all those intertwined met before moving into the afterlife. Obviously Hurley went on as the new protector for a long time with Ben as his No 2.
Desmond was able to flash forward AND backward in his consciousness through his flashes. That is why noone else explicitly was able to recall sideways events aside from him.
the two things I am still waiting to hear theories on are 1) what the writers intended to say with Rose and Bernard showing back up to reiterate their "neutrality"? and 2) why did Ben choose to stay back? he has, hands down, the darkest past with the most blood on his hands. was he afraid to move on with fear of the afterlife's possible judgement? or did he just want to enjoy being Alex's father figure and possibly some french woman lovin'?

The characters were ruined by the futility of their lives. Nothing they did had any consequence on the world, just each other in the little island snow-globe. The light had no point beyond the island. There was no good reason for MIB to be imprisoned. All of the conflict with him was pointless. None of the parents got to raise their children. No one left the island healed and able to contribute to the world. The only things that mattered were Suffering and Love; none of the story amounted to anything unless it dealt with how much they suffered, or the love they found on the island. It was all about dealing with their own pain, and nothing to do with being meaningful.

They could have lead perfectly happy lives as parents. As far as the island and their action impacting the world is concerned, who knows what would have happened if MIB was allowed to get off?

This was and is the Best Show in Television History, perhaps the last of a great show.
The Finale was perfect in every way, it embodied so much of where it began that it was absolutely beautiful and it was a perfectly rounded conclusion to the brilliance that is LOST.
Terrific Job Guys.
