Ben crying at that moment with Danielle reminded me of Frank crying when he saw the plane crash on t.v..

I agree. I've never been a 'Ben-hater'. Always thought of him as a tormented soul. It's nice to see sideways Ben being a nice guy!

Why did they have Sharon Osbourne do the voice over for the finale promo? Weird decision.

The bit I liked most was Hurley recognising Anna-Lucia.

Richard can't be dead-he's immortal. I think he's just stuck way up high in a tree.

I assumed his immortality expired when Jacob expired. But I do hope that isn't the end of Richard. I'd like to see him get a real, definitive death. I like Richard, but I wouldn't have minded if he were the one to get his throat slit. We'd be feeling a much different emotion than we did for Zoe--it would have been so much more powerful. I hope he dies in the finale and isn't yet dead.

"Expired" like the ash? Since he still didn't blow up after Jacob died.
He may be mortally wounded, but I don't think we've seen the last of him.

I think the reason he didn't blow up was because Jack was too important. My hypothesis is that if he had been in there himself, he would have blown up and died because once Jacob died, he would be stripped of his immortality. That's something I'm sure won't be answered whether or not this was the end of Richard, but it's something worth thinking about.

One nagging question and one theory:
First, where is everyone else on island? I mean, we're down to Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, Locke, Ben, Miles, and Richard. We saw Rose and Bernard living their Gilligan's Island fantasy together somewhere in the middle of the island, but aside from them we have no indication about any of the other random 815 passengers. Are just to assume that they were all killed in either (a) the flaming arrows attack, (b) the smokey rampage on the temple, or (c) the mortars on MIL's camp? If so, I guess that's ok, but I wish we had a little more resolution about where everyone else ended up.
And my theory after watching this episode - I think that Desmond's 'mission' in the flash sideways world is to fix all of the candidates' lives so that they can no longer be candidates. He's either doing this to save them from ending up on the island, or because for some reason he is aligned with MIL and doesn't want anyone to replace Jacob, but based on Jacob's comments in this episode that he only picked people who were flawed and who "needed the island as much as it needed them," if Desmond fixes their flaws, then Jacob won't want them.
Like I said, I'm not sure what Desmond's motives are, but I think that is his ultimate goal off island.

But, on the island, Jack already accepted the 'cup of responsibility' so to speak. Does he need to do something else to affirm this? Like go to the 'glowing light' and bow down in submission? I thought [and was hoping] it was a done deal. But then again nothing on the island is ever simple.

EXCEPT some few Others that MIL said scattered into the jungle after he saved Jack from the explosions. Which I'd assume includes Cindy, Zach and Emma.
