The island really is Eden, in a sense; either while the Earth was forming or sometime after, exotic matter was introduced into the mix. Later, the electromagnetic energy of this exotic matter somehow caused/enabled life forms to exist and evolve, so in a way Crazy Mom was right, "the light" is in all of us, sort of. I know it's all conjecture, and just my take, but it makes me feel better about "Across the Sea," to have my own take on that fun but rather cheesy episode. Final prediction: as I predicted at the beginning of the season, the "Kwon candidate" is neither Sun nor Jin, but their daughter Ji Yeon. And I'm sticking to it!
