Crazy idea that I think will end up being true:
Jack led Jack to water.
But Jack was now "Jacob" and had assumed the identity of his father Christian.
Scene 1 of the Pilot episode leaves the door open to this - The Jack they show in that scene probably isn't the Jack from the plane. The Locke they show in episode 3 may not be the Locke from the plane either.
The show has already established that the same character can be in the same place at the same time.
If, at the end of the final season, a time loop is established back to the beginning of the first episode I think this scenario is possible.
