Seriously, I love Ab Aeterno and all, but comon, the show was doing so good, I knew it was too good to be true that they were actually going to play the whole season in a row without breaks.
But comon, I know I'm ready for the crescendo to this symphony.
Sure one week is not any were near BSG levels of annoyance, and I don't blame them for taking a week off, Im just grateful that we aren't dealing with half season....months...second half of season
My biggest question is WHY?
The only thing I could guess is beacuse they are showing the Finale on a Sunday night they needed an extra week to fill the order schedule
My main problem with it is that I thought this was going to be the beginning for serialized dramas doing it the "right" way, complete season- all the way though- no reruns.
(btw not related, but I think that the showtime series DEXTER is the example of a perfectly structured television show)
It was so weird not having anything to look forward too on Tuesday night for the first time in months.
But hey, it could have been worse, we could have gotten a kate episode...."shudders"

I think it comes down to them starting the season a week too early - I guess with all the time traveling they lost their calendars. Before the season - a friend and I had been trying to figure out when the season would start and I actually worked backwards from May 25th - assuming that the finale would be a 2 parter and the Season Premier would be also and I think I came out a couple of weeks short of where it actually started.
But we were promised a "straight through" season. It probably does come down to their feeling that they couldn't get away with all that they have planned for the Series Finale if they did it on a regular Tuesday Night - they are playing the Pilot the night before and they are booting America's Funniest Videos, Extreme Makepver - Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters for the night - their seasons probably all end the Sunday before - all of that at May is a "sweeps month" so they get to have LOST for 1 more May week.
Just a thought.

I'm torn, I guess. On the one hand, if they'd stretched it out traditionally, like seasons one and two, I think it probably would have played better. But I think "Lost" is a victim of it's own awesomeness; it's kind of the last of its kind. If a few extra weeks could've saved the continuity error of last week (and perhaps last season's glaring Lock-time-flash continuity error), then I would be fine with it. All of us who WANT an endless season seem pretty comfortable with watching in our own way on our own time, regardless of air date. Then again, I'm obsessive, and can't wait for the next episode, and it was great to breeze through the Olympics without a hiatus, when I thought we'd get one--what's the answer? Only watch premium station shows? Just accept delays for them to fix the dural sacs of these scripts? Not sure anymore...

My guess is that they decided on the end date and worked their way backward from that to the start date, then added one week. Since they are doing special things for the finale, as well as charging special ad rates, it was pretty important for them to keep the end date intact. They gave themselves a 'just in case' buffer. And didn't they almost have to use it for the State of the Union address?

Uncle Igmar is probably right on the money.
What I wonder is...why this week for the break? The Last Recruit didn't exactly end on a huge cliffhanger. I'm just surprised they didn't wait until after a really big episode. Or for right before the finale week.

Yeah - back about midway through I was thinking that if there was going to be a break - it would be after the long awaited "Island History" episode figuring that would be a good place to take a break - buit that episode would have had to have been last week LOL
I guess that's why I'm not a network programmer.
