I loved it! Great character interactions, especially in the first half. The flash-sideways was awesome. Everything's coming together. It feels like next episode should be the finale at the pace they're going!!
The only thing I'm kinda confused about is Smokey as Christian Shepherd. I'm fine with the Christian that Jack chased through the jungle being Smokey, but what about the one that showed up to Michael on the freighter? First of all, Smokey can't cross water. Second of all, why would Smokey ever show up to Michael, as Christian Shepherd, just to tell him he can leave???
I'm thinking that the Christian we see then is NOT Smokey, but a manifestation of the dead (like Michael appearing to Hurley and stuff like that). I think it's up for debate whether other appearances are Christian's dead manifestation or the smoke monster (such as Christian in the cabin).
Anyways, loved the episode. Can't wait until two weeks from now!! (No new episode next week)

Same thoughts on Christian, too. Like, what about when he appeared to Jack in the hospital off-Island? Was that Smokey or a real ghost?
It's like the whispers. We get the answer, but now I wonder how dead people called Kate up on the phone.
Next week is gonna be depressing! I wonder if Jay and Jack will still do a show?

I don't think MIL was telling the truth about being Christian. We've seen him appear on the freighter, off island at Jack's office, etc.....if he can get off the island as Christian, then everything going on right now really doesn't make sense.

So does Jack think that he knows Locke or is that jacks scene where he remembers operating on Ben? Just the whole prep, sac being torn to shreds, and lower mirror all reminiscent of the operation.

Plus Locke has to be lying about Christian. He only takes the form not the body, which is still missing.
What about sayid? I'm sure he didn't kill dez, right? Plus why is he now the only one with an unhappy AU? Kate can go in the same boat but it's still her same fate in either universe.

If it were any other season, I could say MIL was lying, but I honestly don't think there's time to try and dupe us now. He kind of has to be telling the truth. It just may not be the whole truth.
I doubt Sayid killed Desmond because he said he needed a moment. But someone who doesn't feel shouldn't need a moment, so...I think Desmond got through to him. Although what he did with Desmond? I don't know.

that was fantastic - and Sun & Jin <3
now I wonder what's up with Widmore - what does he want with all this - that is still very unclear - what ever it is he seems to need Desmond for it, and Sideways Desmond seems to be working in favor of the losties with leads me to believe we should be on Widmore's side... but Widmore's holding the same losties Desmond's helping at gun point...
this episode did something good for Kate - I at least felt moved by her scene with Claire

I am really diggin the Wonka theory now.
MIB and Jacob in it together to test the Losties all in order to SAVE the island from WIDMORE! Jack abandoned the "escape" boat making me compare him to Charlie from Wonka, either that, or he'll be first to lose (AND DIE!)

If Jack is going to replace Jacob, I think Sawyer is going to replace Man in Locke.

If Jack is going to replace Jacob, I think Sawyer is going to replace Man in Locke. that wouldn't surprise me at all. the Jack-Sawyer talk on the boat had a very Jacob-Man in Locke feel to it.

I hope Smokey's actions get explained a little more. Specifically, when he appeared as Christian Shephard to Locke near the donkey wheel and basically asked John to make a sacrifice... how did he know Locke's dead body would be brought back? Also I would love an explanation for his appearance on the freighter right before Michael blew up.

I was a bit taken back when Desmond asked Sayid what he was offered. He sounded a lot like Jacob at that moment in way he said that stuff. I can't see how, but I am wondering if that is what is "special" about Desmond.
Although I wasn't surprised that Jack is now "with" the MIL, I am very interested to see how that plays out too.
Overall, very good episode in my opinion.

how did he know Locke's dead body would be brought back? I'm guessing because he was appearing as Christian Shephard he was projecting himself to that time in the well. So he could have the future knowledge by then that he would come to use Locke's body. Just like when he had Richard tell Locke that he was going to have to die.

Loved this episode, but I gotta ask.....Who's "The Last Recruit"? Is it Jack, because he went back?
