Anybody get a bit scared in the opening that we were hearing a Hugo eulogy? Nah. I instantly recognized the voice as Chang's so I wasn't worried. 1) Lil'Red Bloody Boy is growing up... and taunting unLocke... further proof its Jacob? His hair isn't blond now! I don't get it. 2) Whispers are the Ghosts.. People who have died on the island and are stuck there for their wrongs.. is it Hell? is Christian really just one of these Ghosts, completely unrelated to Jacob/MIB, and just stuck their for his wrongs? Having the whispers and Michael show up were presented way to easily, and didn't quite match the behavior we've seen before regarding The Whispers being connected to The Others.. i'm gonna say right now we're being misdirected. I don't think we're being misdirected, but it is weird that the whisper are now ghosts and not the Others. Unless the Others are really ghosts.... Christian still doesn't make sense though 'cause other people can see him, and not just Hurley.... Maybe he was busy with other work? 6) What was the "sachel" Hurley found on the beach? Looked sorta like the bag o' diamonds. it clearly inspired him though, as that turned him around to start leading the group. I thought it was Jacob's ashes. Seems fitting Hurley would take them on his visit to MIL. 7) Why is Island Dez just sitting back and letting unLocke have his way? He admits he isn't scared, and likely knows unLocke will try to toss him down the well. Again, something is up here. Des's zen state reminds me of Jacob. 10) If there are these wells that everyone dug all over, and nobody found anything, what does that mean? Obviously we saw a well where the Donkey Wheel was, so something was found there. And the explanation finally could explain how someone found that cavern. But again, no one found anything while digging? Well if one led to the Donkey Wheel, then at some point someone did find something. And they filled up the well so no one else could ever find it again.

my brother pointed out that the ABC promo for next week featured the voices/song/quotes from the movie Willy Wonka and Chocolate Factory in the background (the 1971 film starring Gene Wilder based on the novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). Can anyone confirm that? Maybe I should wait for Lostpedia Yes that was definitely the song from this scene:

Taken from The Ack Attack: "That preview for next week is CAH-RAZY. Using the song from Willy Wonka only furthers my theory that Jacob = Willy Wonka and all of this has been a test to find his next replacement. WHAT IF SMOKEY IS JUST SLUGWORTH AND THEY’VE BEEN IN CAHOOTS ALL THIS TIME??? omg." Made me laugh.

Anyone thinking that Desmond is seeing flashes of the future on island again(Charlie's death)? & this is why he is so calm... he knows what is going to happen & what he needs to do. Just a thought. I'm wondering if it isn't young smokey that old smokey keeps seeing b/c that stick he was holding last night looked pretty similar to the one he was working on at the beginning of the episode... if that is the case then maybe smokey is trapped b/c of all the wrongs he has committed... it could possibly explain seeing the boy with bloody hands. he has talked about his mother being crazy... maybe he did something to her when he was a boy. I like the thought that Desmond ran over Locke to trigger his memory about the island. My first reaction was it was the same look he had after being pushed out the window & when Jacob touched him. I have a feeling this is going to trigger Jack's memories as well when he works operates on Locke. here is a crazy theory: what if Desmond is trying to kill Locke in the sideways b/c he's actually smokey off island & is trapped in that form.

So I think the sideways is basically what WOULD have happened to everyone had they never had Jacob, MIB or the Island in their lives. Mainly, just if Jacob hadnt ever touched them. This is the timeline where the show will end. Has everyone forgotten where the Island is in this timeline?? What do you think?

I don't think the kid had a stick. I think he grabbed a skinny tree. There were a lot in the area, and when the kid walked away, the stick/tree remained. Just saying!

The kids have to be significant...Although, this episode made me think of MIB as Captain Hook and the kids we see as the lost boys, yet another story with an alternate reality...
I hope that we see Hurley trap MIB in an ash-ring, although it would be interesting to see how the Hurlies attempt to subdue Sayid and Claire.

Wow, what an episode you guys! The ending was so surprising, that I couldn't contain myself. I just got up and starter screaming like a crazy person! Anyway I am not sure if anyone mentioned this before, but I think that this "parallel" universe is showing us what will happen if "Locke" succeeds in leaving the island. And so I think that the reason Desmond ran over "Locke" with his car was because it is not Locke, but actually MIB or MIL or whatever we are calling it these days. I think if he leaves the island "Locke" becomes mortal and that is why Desmond is trying to Kill him.

Okay, first I'd like to agree that Desmond running over Locke was to trigger his memories of the island because Desmond seemed (and looked) happy not mad at all. However, how the HELL do you try to kill someone without actually doing it? How did Charlie or Desmond know that what they did wouldn't just kill the other person?! There is no way you can tell me that Desmond knew exactly what speed to hit Locke and not kill him. Speaking from experience, getting hit by a car usually leads to memory loss not memory gain! Oh, and WTF... why was Locke drinking water or carving a stick? Maybe Smokey is becoming stuck in his human form eh? Awesome episode Jorge!

Very excellent episode indeed! I liked it quite alot. Very much in the style of season 1 episodes. I also went WTF??? when Desmond ran over Locke. I went "Why? Why did he do that?" 1point was a bit less cool: how they straight up explained what the whispers are. I rolled my eyes. other then that: sheer awesomeness to the max! This is going to make me miss Lost a lot if they keep this up...

Kind of figured that's why Libby was in the institute (desmonds previous encounter with her). But is illana blowing up the reason she's all bandaged when Jacob goes for her help? It'd be a big loop though. Thoughts? I thought about that, but she's in pieces now, no bandages could put her back together. I think maybe her bandages from before were just when she was training for the moment when she'd actually be blown up to pieces. To me, that actually sounds really legit.

I like the idea about the young boy being young Smokey. I know hair color can change but if you notice the older version of the boy has dark hair like MIB did. Of course this again begs the question: If what MIB said was true, that Jacob stole his body, then I guess the boy could be young Jacob. Or if MIB's body was the one that we have seen talking with Jacob on screen this year then it may be young MIB, the alternate-universe one stuck on the island. Maybe that shows that MIB is trapped on the island no matter what happens with the timeline.
