In the sideways - the thing that sparked Charlie's memory was choking on his heroin bag. His Deja Vu experience was that of being with Claire. The same thing with Desmond he was drowning and Deja Vu to Charlie holding up his hand saying Penny's Boat.

I think that Desmond will bring other Oceanic passengers to a near death experience to trigger their memories.

Will he do this for all 324 passengers or just our main lostees
