Okay, so the season 5 finale gave us Jacob and MiB, set up all the pawns for the final battle, and the island got exploded.
Right up until the Season 6 premier most of us were crafting our theories and getting them "locked in" before season 6 would come around to disprove us all.
How many episodes into season six did it take for you to throw your hands in the air and say "I was so wrong!"?
(This is only concerining overarching theories, not "little" ones like fertility and Christian)
Ill keep it short.
My first theory was that Jacob was a bored deity who, in an attempt to entertain himself, challenged MiB (a normal man) to a game. The game is about the decency of humans and all that jazz, MiB proves over and over to jacob that humans are evil but Jacob just says that the game isn't over (It only ends once)
Jacob knew that someday MiB would find a way to kill him, so he set up a backup plan to create a mutually assured destruction.
The plot of Lost is this backup plan.
Overall Man in Black is not evil, but just a normal man who has been pushed to do evil things. (Smokey and living forever are all powers that jacob gave him to give himself a challenge)
I was kind of denying it, saying that everyone working for jacob was just calling the monster evil to sway people to fight him, and the monster has done everything he can to not hurt too many people and just wants to help everyone get off the island.
Ab Aterno sealed it for me, we have our plot, Jacob had no reason to lie to Alpert,
I give up on this theory, for it too be true too many characters would have to be in cahoots with the lie that the smoke monster is pure evil. (Take some advice Jack, MiB and Jacob ARE NOT THE SAME!)
