Its been told by several characters (Dogen, Jacob, Widmore, Alpert's Wife) that Man in Black is pure evil and cannot leave the island.
Tonight's episode (Happily ever after) has made something click for me as far as what the Sideways world could be.
My original Theory was that Man In Black was not evil, but just a desperate man wanting to escape and forced to do evil things, and the sideways world was going to be his reward to everyone for helping him, (notice that overall Sideworld has been turning out better for alot of people then life pre-island in realworld)
But the conversation that Desmond had with Eloise (who totally doesn't have any idea that anything is out of place or wrong.../s) Made something click for me when she started saying that he didn't need to meet penny sparked a review of relationships in sideworld...
Jacks wife seems to still be separated from him.
Claire's adoptee's husband leaves her.
Nadia has married Sayids brother Omar, (but the marriage seems empty, Nadia and Sayid are pinning for eachother but can't be together)
Sawyer "Blows it" with Charlotte (and still no sign that Juliet even exists in sideworld)
Desmond never meet Penny, Charlie never got to meet Claire, Daniel never properly meet Charlotte.
Anyone noticing a pattern, no one is able to find love (in a romantic sense) in sideworld.
There are two exceptions to this though.
Sun and Jin- They are in love...but look where that got them, (I think that sun wil die, or atleast lose what we could assume is Ji Yeon)
Locke- The man that MiB inhabits is seemingly the only person to find real love in sideworld...COINCIDENCE!!!
The Smoke Monster is a force of pure evil that wants to destroy the purest form of good in the world, LOVE.
Yes I know, I can not escape the corniness of this theory, but love is one of the most important and vital parts of the human condition, destroying that would basically be the same thing as destroying the world.
I put my first call into the show about this so fingers crossed if I get picked...
(I am a guy BTW and I know how girly this theory sounds LOVE CONQUERS ALL!!! But I'm sticking too it!!!)
