Eloise told him pushing the button was the greatest thing he'd ever do.
Will that hold true in the end I wonder. He got together with Penny and they had Charlie- that's pretty great- does that go away?
*** Lostpedia quote: When Eloise showed him a ring and Desmond told her he would take it, she seemed upset and responded by telling him he would not. After Desmond refused to give the ring back she explained to Desmond that she knows his name, he will break Penny's heart, he will not marry Penny, instead entering the sailing race to prove Penny's father wrong, and he will go to the Island and press the button for three years until forced to turn the failsafe key. She said that if he "doesn't do those things," that "every single one of us is dead." ***
That last bit sounds like Widmore's warning that if MIB gets off the island the people they love will cease to exist. The two were married. Do they talk? What is their relationship now? Are they in cahoots? Or the opposite?

Eloise and Widmore don't seem to be on very good terms since we saw Eloise slap Widmore in the face and all.... And I don't think they were ever married? Widmore just knocked Eloise up...

I was re-watching The Constant today and I guess I'm still a little confused about the whole consciousness time travelling thing. When 2004 Freighter Desmond's consciousness travels back in time and meets Faraday in Oxford, for example... what happens to 1997 Desmond when 2004 Desmond's consciousness leaves? Does he have any knowledge that 2004 Desmond was just there? Does he simply black out? Does Desmond in let's say 1998 know that in 1997 he told Penny to not change her phone number?

Desmond must be very very pissed by this point. Holy crap, dragged back to the Island for a third time...

Did his prolonged exposure to the electromagnitism in the Swan station make it so that he can survive a huge electromagnetic event? Or when he turned the failsafe key? Or maybe it was in those shots he gave himself everyday when he was in the hatch by himself. Maybe the serum that made him impervious to the infection was really the stuff that made it possible for him to withstand the giant electromagnetic blasts...

Interesting theory on the shots....
Faraday told Desmond he was special while they were flashing. I would think this suggests Desmond was already able to withstand electromagnetic energy and such before ever turning the failsafe key.
