Wow, what a great episode so far.
Why is Kate's name "no longer" on the wall?
I'm going to say Sun is now "claimed" due to whatever Locke did to her when she was knocked out. She's gone bad, and will try to prevent them from destroying the plane.
VERY touching scene with Jin and Ji-Yung's pics.
And "The Package" ?? I'm chiming in now to confirm my vote for Desmond behind the 2 locks.
more notes to come soon.

wow, Patchey shot in the eye! And Sideways-Sun is Preggers!
Good call on Dez in the sub!
I guess the biggest questions tonight were about Widmore and his plan.. obviously involves the pockets of special sauce across the island.. and probably Desmond related to those, since his interactions before.
a couple minor details: Keamy works for Paik.. unLocke gave Claire permission to kill Kate after they get everyone on the plane... unLocke obviously confronted Widmore only to let Sayid sneak in. Not sure why he didn't let Sawyer/Kate in on that when he returned, unless he's proving he doesn't trust them.
Richard was clearly examining Sun when he returned, like "looking into her soul" as she yelled at him.. she's clearly claimed!
Widmore said everyone would "cease to be" if unLocke escaped. I think we've only heard previously that everyone would go bad or something.
unLocke confirmed that he can't just "smoke" his way over to Hydra. He has to go on the boat, and possibly only in human form. It is unclear if he can become Smokey again once on Hydra island.

Sun only being able to communicate with pen and paper reminds me of Locke in Further Instructions when he's mute.
Mikhail! Fun to see him again.
Zoe says Room 23 was Dharma testing, but when Karl was in the room there was the slide that mentioned Jacob. Does this mean the DI knew about Jacob or that the Others altered the video for their own purpose? I doubt we'll get an answer, but still....
Overall, I liked this episode. Seeing Sun be assertive again was really refreshing.

I was also thinking that about Jacob's mention in Room 23. The video definitely seemed like Dharma/hippie/cult style rather than Others-style, so i think this always spurred on Dharma + Jacob theories.
(also, I added some more notes to my comments above)

Widmore suggesting Penny, Ji Yeon etc would cease to be if Smokey left made me think instantly of the sideways world. Especially after Sun got shot.
I'm not convinced Sun is claimed at all. I mean, really? Just a bonk on the head is enough?
MIL saying he doesn't like secrets seems to suggest he doesn't trust Sawyer and Kate, yet it's also kind of funny that he's withholding information himself, there. That's a secret you have, MIL!

I guessed it was Desmond too after the talk Widmore gave Jin about being kept apart from his daughter. Will this just be proof that he sent Desmonds boat there to keep him away from Penny? And that Penny found out what he had done with Des so she was searching for the pockets of energy? Sometimes I feel like we (fans) have so many things already figured out that the answers don't suprise us. They just become confirmation of what we already think we know. I hope there is a bigger reason for Des.

I'm fairly certain he can Smokify on Hydra once he's off the boat, since I'm convinced he killed the pile of Ajira survivors Sawyer found before encountering Zoe. SO glad we get more about the pockets of electromagnetism--and yeah, Desmond being the package was a bit of a let down, lots of people theorizing it was him, and I certainly figured it would be after Widmore told Jin it was a "who" and not a "what." But at least Des is back! I like how they kept it ambiguous as to whether he was forced to come or came of his own free will, the way he couldn't stand and had been drugged, a la Juliet. I wonder if everybody has to be drugged, or if it's due to his tendency to come unstuck in time when he passes through that perimeter around the island. Did Sun's aphasia have to do with the weird bleed-through the Losties seem to be getting of subconscious memories in flash-sideways world? Like after getting knocked out her language center was taken over by the language center of her alterna-self, who can't speak English? Loved Miles's incredulity at that plot device. Wondering about Widmore's portable sonic pylons; the ones on the main island seems pretty well anchored, but these have pretty flimsy looking three-legged metal stands. Can't MIL just go Smokey on the base that seems to extend out toward him shore side to knock one down, like how he knocked rocks into that ash ring in the statue to kill what's his face? I'm thinking Smokey can't kill Widmore, just like Ben couldn't, and how he doesn't seem able or willing to kill Richard or the candidates.

Also loved Lapidus's comment "This coming from the guy who talks to the dead." ;D Like, you can believe this guy talks to the dead, but not that a knock to the head can make Sun not speak English anymore. Hilarious.

LOVED Sawyer's line..."No, 'cause that would be ridiculous!"

Oh, did anyone catch the 'glitch' when Locke walked by the sonic fence? If not, watch when Locke first walks by it when the camera point of view is from behind the fence. For a split second, Locke gets fuzzy (can't think of a better term to describe it) almost exactly like the effect used in The Matrix when the 'deja vu cat' walks by.
Maybe it was just my TV...anyone else??

Hey all - No, I didn't pick up the glitch, though I'd love confirmation on that. Could be very neat to see them start to blur Locke/Smokey more. I loved this episode... we were all sitting around the TV yelling: "walt, NO... desmond... NO... aaron? no... DESMOND!" at the end. I also think that it's very nice, this season - instead of just a sad little jin/sun sideline, we got some good on-island action as well. Very well blended, in my opinion. Why do you think we're seeing fewer and fewer posts on the board this season? Because a) all theories are out there already? and/or b) because we're getting more answers?

I think what drove most people to the forums here was the episode discussion, but now there's the YuBlog for that, so....
