Chang, Candle, Wickmund, Halliwax. Why?

One thing in Lost has me scratching my head for a couple of years.

Why does Pierre Chang have multiple candle aliases?

Could he be like the rabbits in the orchid station? Could there be multiple instances of Chang existing in the same time? Is that why he has at least 3 aliases?

It made me wonder if the bomb created a time loop and 2 Jacks, Kates, Sawyers, etc. were created in 1977.

It's kinda an interesting question, but I doubt we'll get the answer to it. Maybe he just enjoys changing his name every once in a while.

I don't think there's multiple Chang's since in the season 5 opening he's clearly Pierre calling himself one of the aliases when shooting the video.

I think it may just be to protect his real identity, or really...just to confuse us viewers into wondering "Who the heck is this guy?!"

Or he was working on his one man show for when he got off of the island - or just working on his acting chops for whenever Bud Lite was wanting him for a commercial

Perhaps the purpose of using different names is a way to reference the difference stations. Example if he receives a message addressed to Candle he knows it has to do with the Swan station.
