OK i haven't heard this one so far, but my theory is that the flash sideways is actually the original time-line of all the characters and somewhere along the line someone found out about the island wanted to change how their life was or if they new about the island (Ben) wanted to go back hence in doing so ended up messing up the time-line turning our beloved characters lives upside and becoming exaggerated versions of their former selves while ending up on the island. So the flash sideways would end at LOSTS beginning. I was thinking this because so far the flash sideways haven't really portrayed too many "happy endings". I realize life isn't perfect but as far as Sayid's life is concerned he still becomes a murderer but at least this time he was protecting his family instead of following orders. I hope this makes sense because in my head it completely plausible
