hey I'm just curious if you guys have contacted anyone like Dr. Steve Novella from the Skeptics' Guide to the Universe podcast to feature on the show.
I recall last year somewhere in a lost podcast you guys raised the vaccine issue in context to autism, and didn't sound like you had been well informed on where the scientific consensus is, as you sort of left it up in the air as an unknown on that episode. I suspect that has changed since the Autism Speaks podcast last year, but am curious if something on that topic will be addressed this year (and someone like Dr Novella, or others from the Science-Based medicine blog, could be a good contribution regarding the frightening claims being put out there by the anti-vaccine crowd).
cheers

I think what we said was something like some believe, and it turn into we supported this or that. It wasn't that we weren't informed on the different theories on the cause and cures, we just didn't want to turn this into a debate on who's right and who's wrong.
I've said this several times, the reason we chose Autism Speaks is because it's the charity my sister has work with, gone on walks and other events to raise money.
Her two sons, my nephews have Autism.
Our goal is to raise as much money as we can to help support the cause.
It's not our goal to turn it in to a 30 hour event like Hardball with Chris Matthews with people screaming at each other the whole time.
When Jay brought it up last year we had several e-mails from both sides screaming at us. What I told each and everyone of those people who sent in an e-mail, I think we all can agree it's a growing problem. The last stat I read on it said 1 in every 150 children born to today will develop autism.
Again our main goal is to raise money for the cause not to convince that one side is right and the other is wrong. Autism Speaks has a great reputation and as long as they do I'll keep helping them out.

ok, thanks for clearing that up.
on a different matter, at the end of the Lost podcast 5.8 (I just heard it...gah, I fell asleep and missed Lost last night--won't see it until the repeat on Tuesday night!! thank the internet gods your podcast exists!) Jay mentioned concerns about having space to host that much audio (30 hours), you could use rapidshare, megaupload, mediafire, any number of upload websites.
my personal favorite is 4shared.com (you get a free account with 10 gigs of storage space, and the files stay there so long as you log in to your account at least once a month to keep it active). So long as the audio was chopped up into mp3s of 1 hour segments, or 1 guest segments, I think it would work quite well (since being unable to resume interrupted downloads is always a concern).
