Did anyone else notice that the bargain Dogen made with Jacob is similar to the bargain Juliet made with Ben in season 3 'One of Us'? If Juliet stayed on the Island and continue her research, Ben would make sure Jacob cured Rachel's cancer.
Yes Ben was obsessed with Juliet and would do anything to keep her on the island, but still very similar.
We still don’t really know if Rachel had cancer, but we also don’t know if Jacob saved Dogens son. Can we really take Jacob or Ben at their word?

Ben had never even meet Jacob, I think he was just doing whatever he could to keep Juliet there.

I wonder if all of Jacob's followers had similar deals, and that is why they were so quick to abandon Jacob's side when they learned he was dead. And if that is why Juliet was so willing to believe Ben when he said Jacob would save her sister.

Wouldn't you want to believe someone could save a person you love? We saw Jacob touch Locke after falling and seemingly bring him back to life. It's not too much of stretch to believe Jacob has that kind of power.

I was under the impression that dead is dead, and Jacob can only save those on the brink of death i.e. Ben and Locke

The water saved Ben. Is that the same as being touched?

No way did Locke fall that many stories, landing on his back & hitting the back of his skull, and not die. Jacob must have brought him back to life, and healed all but his back injury as he would have had multiple fractures up and down his body. It would be a stretch that Jacob's touch only served to keep him from dying. Of course, this show is all about the stretches. LOL

He may have been mortally wounded, but not completely DEAD dead. Just mostly dead...which is still slightly alive.
