Jack, after watching today's drama, don't you think the NHL should consider a little contraction and go with a 10 or 12 Canadian and American team league? Think of the rivalries! The potential! The teams play each other throughout the season, and at the end, an North American Cup...a great way to build interest in the sport I think, as opposed to the half-dozen American franchises which are on life support and bleeding money.

I'm not sure if it would work. The problem with Hockey is, it's not a good TV sport. You have to pat attention to what's going on. Most can't do that.lol

You're absolutely right, hockey definitely loses something, a big something on television. But they could make it better.
Peter Berg was talking about this on another podcast a while back. Multiple digital cameras around the rink, some at foot level so you could get an appreciation for the footwork involved. Helmet-cameras. Zooming in on the stickwork. It would take a lot of coordination, but it could work.
